Dog vs Chimpanzee

I've been receiving some flack from my girlfriend for suggesting a chimpanzee would beat a vicious big dog like a German Sheppard or Boxer in a fight.

What do you think?

To enable a meaningful response please clarify the reason for said flack from girlfriend? Is it because:

1) She disagrees with your assertion and contends that the dog would beat the chimpanzee in a fight; or

2) She despairs of such inane, immature drivel and can't believe you are ruining her evening prattling along about such a topic

A bit of both. We were watching something on animal attacks which got on to the subject of people owning animals like Tigers, Bears and Chimps over dogs and cats etc. So I decided to discuss the potential threat of keeping a chimp over a dog.

I enjoy hypothetical discussions, no matter how absurd (eg, how would you react if each one of your sperm was a sentient being?). So I will answer: clearly the chimp. They are strong as hell and vicious too.

No they certainly are not. They are far stronger, have a huge temper and have great long fangs to boot.
I'm sure there was a woman in the states in the 90's that got mauled by one. She appeared on the Oprah show about it.

A chimpanzee is far stronger than a human and doesn't have the self-control to control that strength. In a proper full-on fight, it would quite literally tear any sized dog to bits. And the harder the dog fights back and injures the chimp the more it would just go into hulk mode.

Chimps look a bit stupid, but they are as tough as ****. Any fight in which a human stands a chance, a Chimp wins with room to spare.

As mentioned above, incidents where a human has come up against a raging, fully grown chimp are not pretty.
