Nvidia GP102 Titan coming soon

Anyone who buys a Titan is frankly a moron. the Ti from the same family is a damn near the same performance and hundreds of pounds cheaper. Just goes to show how many mugs there really are out there.

That's a bit much. People make their own decisions what's worth their money and that doesn't mean they are idiots. When you leap in depends on your budget and what you need to power. The same argument could be used for any graphics card as a 7970 will still perform ok in 1080p. I think most understand what is likely to happen:

Titan is launch new performance possible
6 months later ti card pis launch virtually same performance £200- £300 cheaper
12 months later new range comes out xx70 card launched another £200- £300 cheaper
6 months later new titan card comes out new performance is possible

Etc etc

People need to just say no to Titan and it's ridiculous prices and wait for the Ti
They just going to milk it again and kill it's within couple months. People keep paying this stupid amount on a GPU they will just keep making them.

+1
Wait for ti.

Yes but you know its coming. Not long after.

Nobody knew last time round as the first time the Titan was out for around 6 months or maybe longer before the 780ti came.

Now we know nVidia don't mind launching them 2-3 months later then yes it would be a silly purchase now.

I think the new titan will be cut down GP100 chips. The titan was always meant to be a workstation card and the GP100 with its extra 64bit compute will make it a good card for those working in 3d and the like. There will be lots of GP100 cores that will not be good enough for HPC but will be decent for other stuff.

The GP102 will be the 1080ti.

They are just taking advantage of the lack of competition I'm afraid :(

True, your only competitions high-end/enthusiast cards, only being able to (hopefully) match your mainstream ones, doesn't help.

I thought the same. I see no figures to suggest this and for the main part around the forums there seems to be more people not willing to buy one as it's just not that much better than what they have.

What people say and do, are 2 to seperate things, Nvidia cards are like petrol/diesel, everyone moans about the prices, but they still buy it anyway.

What kinda comparison is that?

You need fuel, but you don't need a top end gpu.

I suspect the new Titan will be here sooner than you think!

If you build it they will come.

Nvidia have the chance to screw over the enthusiast with a double whammy this year.

After 980 to 980Ti, I think a lot of people have been hesitant and not bought a 1080, so likely less people to be screwed over.

This is exactly what Nvidia want lol. The Titan makes the Ti seem like a much better value buy. But tbh ill still be looking at the Ti to see what performance it offers and talk to my self about if I wana buy at the price it will be! Which I bet wil be tad over 700 quid for afternarket cards.

Obviously price is a big unknown at the moment but if its not wildly different that last time I will take a look at the next Titan. I use my machine for 3D work as well as play so the titans extra memory was my reason for going with it over the Ti. If I was purely a gamer then the Ti is obviously the better proposition financially.

You can not beat 4 way SLI TitanXs @2160p for gaming, even more so now that we find out you can only use 1080s in 2 way SLI. Not to mention the 12gb v 8gb memory.:D

Its hard to know if that will be true going forward , Future games Nvidia may simply lock more then 2 even 900 Series or older cards out of we just dont know yet.

I'd presume DX12 multi gpu if devs decide to include it can work with more then 2 1080's or other cards since it doesnt rely on the sli fingers

that's very rude and frankly uncalled for. What you and people like you seem to forget is that NVIDIA needs to keep innovating. If it was only for non - mugs as you call them, they'd have no reason to. People buy whatever the heck they want and you need to learn to mind your own business.

Buy what you want and what you can afford but don't call others morons just because they have more resources than you. It only makes you look bad, not them ...

Same tactic again then, release a Titan and charge £900 followed by a Ti at £600

Looks like they can easily get away with fooling people with this so will go ahead do it, and why not. You cant blame them if people wont learn

Nearly every thread is ruined by the same people pointlessly whining.... if you don't like it then don't buy it, get on with your life.

Shanks, why do you even come to nvidia threads? You despise nvidia, AMD can do no wrong, you contribute absolutely zero - don't you have better things to do?

While a grand or so may be expensive to some, it's not to many who use the card day every day for a year,

If you see someone with a Rolex, do you go up to them and call them an idiot? I mean it does the same job as a £10 Casio.

Personally I won't buy the titan, I prefer to wait for any ti variation and see what is has to offer, but I'm not going to insult people that choose to spend their money differently.

I can only talk about the present and at the moment the best option for 2160p is the old TitanXs.

I am also concerned about the negative comments in this and other threads about the people who had the foresight to get 12gb cards on launch day and are still getting good use out of them.:)

How people spend their money is entirely up to them, this is something you will have to learn to live with if you can.

I really feel like doing something totally outrageous with new graphics cards just to show I don't give a hoot what people like you think.

Who is for me doing something outrageous then ?

Titan, going on history will be the card to buy. The Ti will of course be better value but compromised and arriving 2-3 month later probably, when you could have bought and enjoyed the Titan for another 3 months which may still be the faster card anyway.
So, at a £1000 it'll be good value :D (joke)
