** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

BTW, "binned" is not a literal term. It means that the GPU has been selected specifically because it holds decent clocks. Binned is a good thing:p

Yeah but if the chips are not selected and that it is enough to overclock manually on afterburner for the same result (noise/ temps), no interest to pay more.

The MSI is at the same price with the golden sample.

Historically the GLH models have had binned chips, hence their high clocks but seeing as all these card look to be pretty much the same you could certainly take your chances with the base model and clock it up.

If you want, I'll pull the BIOS from my GLH when I get it (assuming I can) and upload it for you to try. Might just get a nice free OC!

I could show you another test in which Strix is 4db louder in gaming then MSI Gaming X. 4db is big an easily noticeable.

In the end the question is does it matter to one? If it does one will find the quietest card (measured) as I did. If it does not then yeah why bother but there is no point in denying facts.

I have few 0db rigs at home. My gaming rig will not be 0db. That is not possible at performance level I am aiming for but it will be as quiet as possible using air cooling and it means that every little thing counts, every single fan, and every last DB I can shave off.

Cheers

Read my post again, I'm not saying the Strix isn't louder than the MSI or G1, what I'm saying those 2 tests are very poor for a real build comparison. Making purchase judgements based on them may not be ideal.

An open bench isn't going to give you an accurate reading of noise in a normal case build, you aren't going to get the ambient heat build up that you would in a case which will obviously require and result in a faster fan speed.

And the video doesn't tell us anything as we don't know what they are doing in their "gaming" test (if they are even gaming, they could have just altered the fan speed %) or what fan profile they are using and again it needs to be in a case to be of any use to most people.

If you're system is an open bench then these tests may be of real use.

Note my build is a quiet build, you'll notice the sound reducing case and very quiet fans. My G1 doesn't sound anything like the video even with the side panel off and my ear 6" away from he card, which suggest their "gaming" test was a fake or they have a poor card or high ambient room temp. :)

IMO asus really messed up: Palit and Gainward have their 3 tiers where the chips can fall in (as MSI),
Asus going off the bat with the unmatched 1936 advertised boost for their only AIB card (the other is the gigabyte, but they have the G1 for worse chips)
are essentially forced to announce soon a lower clocked model as well as made it almost impossible to come out with a Matrix card in the future.

This has happened with most manufacturers (Inno lowering the clocks for their V2 of the cards), I guess Nvidia yields are not as good as they all thought.

Another reason might be that with Boost 3.0 making manual overclocks less impactful, they all had to push the cards further to make their models seem more valuable.

Really happy I went FE Now rather than waiting

I can easily see 1800+ constant on my card without oc

So a ab card is only getting 50mhz difference and with a 10% increase in fan speed seeing 1900mhz at 78c

Guys/Gals ............

Can someone settle my thinking on this ............

Pre-Orders, obvious what this means lol

But ..............

Suppose they show cards in with decent amounts (10+)

Am i correct in thinking that the stock goes striaght to to pre-ordered, or is there a likelyhood of me driving the short distance as i usually do to try and snag a card ?

I think it's gonna be the former ?

Cheers

If I missed any cards just asked, but I think I covered them all, all manufacturers worked 24/7 over the weekend producing and shipping cards, so we hope by the end of this week a lot of backorders shall be cleared and cards in stock.

If I missed anything just ask guys, but because OcUK has more brands and SKU's listed than any competitor it is hard to keep up, the advantage however is were getting more than double the stock, even triple compared to our other big competitors. :)

Infact I do not have it confirmed but I believe OcUK is the no.1 reseller in whole of Europe for 1080, which is an achievement I am very proud off because UK TAM is a lot smaller than some of our European competitors. :)

If it shows a stock level of 10+ it means all pre-orders have being allocated and shipped out, the stock level is actual free stock, so if you order a card showing in stock or 10+ you will get the card next day as long as warehouse ships that day and the courier does their job correctly. :)
