Drove a Merc GLA hire car today. Man what an awkward car. Looked great on the inside nice leather etc and all the gizmos, but the thing felt utterly lifeless and devoid of character. If it didn't have cruise control would have been a bugger on the feet, the cabin is cramped whilst being too far away from the steering wheel, and I have really long arms. Very odd car.
 
I encountered an off duty police officer on a Triumph Speed Triple who decided he didn't want to stop behind me. Very minor damage, but it wouldn't surprise me if the bill gets well into four figures. Felt quite sorry for the guy, he was incredibly embarrassed.

You would have thought that by this point they would have figured out the owner possibly isn't coming back, and pursued other avenues.... :p

You'd be surprised. A friend of mine came back from two months in Asia to find nearly sixty on his car.
The first ticket had been placed over his permit and the rest just kept piling on. It took five years of legal action to get them all overturned.
