** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

It is hard to deny that Gainward / Palit look ancient in their visual design (and IMHO ugly) but then in typical standing layout case (if you have a window) you look at them from theirs top angel if I can say so. So in fact you do not see most of colour scheme and design features. From this angle most of the cards looks more or less similar with the difference that some are thicker then others.

Based on this conclusion I went for high performing Gainward even tough I have Tempered Glass edition case and I will be looking at it on constant bases.

Soon I shell see if I was not mistaken in my conclusions :D

Really tempted to change from the EVGA FTW card to the MSI Gaming X too. However, still not sure. The FTW card just looks and feels a much better all round card to me. Might be worth the extra week delay on it...

If i had a choice i would have probably gone for the Gigabyte G1 but its just around 0.25" inches too long!!! Damn. As I'm restricted to 11.02" length, i think the only option i have is the MSI Gaming X or FTW and out of these two FTW looks like a better choice.

How are you measuring your space, as the official card length almost certainly includes the bracket and screw area?

Measuring my G1 from the base of the bracket, but not the ¬ part with screw, it's 275mm 10.8268".

It just seems to make no sense whatsoever that come release day there is very limited stock so Nvidia's immediate sales will be really low. Few weeks later still no AMD cards so why didnt they as in Nvidia put the release back a couple of weeks to allow stock to be created?

I presume a worldwide launch is planned quite far in advance. Once the date was advertised I assume they couldn't change it. There did seem to be a lot of FE cards so is the issue with the custom cards a manufacturer problem or is it Nvidia or a combination? I suppose it'll all come out in the wash.

Interestingly, the AMD 480 is only going to be available in reference form at launch. Custom cards are later. The Hype Train in the 480 thread said that AMD had been building up stock for weeks or even months so there would be plenty of cards available at launch.

How do they dispatch then?

Because I've heard nothing still and someone who's ordered Saturday hasn't either. Yet all the in-between has! :P

I find this inconsistency extremely concerning, given I phoned customer service earlier this afternoon and was told I had missed out on today's MSI Gaming X allocation by a single unit, and therefore I was first in the queue for the next shipment.

We can't both be first in the queue for the same product. What is going on OCUK?

The fact is now I don't feel safe that I'm going to get my card when the next shipment comes in.

Got my first FTW in. Time to test if it's actually FTW or FTL!

From reviews they seem to be almost at their limits already, a few reviews reported 50-60 MHz or so. Which more than likely means all the good clocking chips are being held back for the derp pricing card.

As good as they might be they'll all hit 2.1 or a tiny bit more and stop there, there's nothing we have yet to see from the 1080 :D

Been going back and forth trying to decide which card to go for. Been living with a gtx680 for quite some time now, so whats another month if necessary.

Flipping between an EVGA FTW, Classified, MSI Gaming X or Founders Edition.

Card will go under water, so wondering whether its worth going for one of the aib boards, spending extra on the classy or going for an FE. HELP!!!

Gigabyte xtreme is due next week as well.

Mine was quoted as shipped 2 hours later.

Gainward GS bought yesterday. Already shippied !!!

Nobody wants Gainward or what? I begin to self scare me.

That's strange. I've got a pre-order for that card, was apparently first in the queue when I swapped my order from the Inno3d X4 last week but my order is still in process. According to webnote I received nothing has arrived.

Defo a Golden Sample card?

I'm in France. It's not here. The gainward is in stock in our country. Which is rather bizarre. The French may not know Gainward.

I think last gen though us the cheaper card is the best card to get under water (as in negligible difference from a super-extra-elite-tier marketing card :o).
With locked voltage this seems even more the case.

A few 980Ti records in the forum are still set with a reference board...

Just a bit curious about the whole shebang. From what I understand it there was a NDA from Nvidia on the GTX 1080 which ceased release day. As in the day you could actually buy one if in stock or preorder. So everyone and their uncle could not talk about it or allow preorders.

So everyone in the know knew this was the day of sale yet stock was low. Now was this due to nvidia releasing the manufacturing kits to manufacturers really late or was there some shortage of components?

Expect that cards taht are in stock are selling for 10% to 20% more than their normal price cause of the shortage. Great fro retailers.
Makes no sense from Nvidia's perspective and doesnt show any kindess to the customer other than creating a fever over the product and upsetting the paying customer.

I pity OCUK staff having to deal with all the queue movement.

I'm sure OCUK and other retailers would prefer to have plentiful supply to be able to fill orders rather than making an extra £40-£80 on each one.
