Anton Yelchin - New Chekov RIP

R.I.P

Was shocked when I read about this last night, he made some good films - I liked him in Rudderless & Odd Thomas.

Plus its a really unfortunate way to go.

Not Chekov! :(

Great actor and enjoyed him in the latest Star Trek movies. Very sad news.

It'll be interesting to see what they do if they continue to make more Star Trek movies and how they deal with Chekov not being in them (as I highly doubt they'll re-cast)

R.I.P.

some pics on TMZ of his drive etc. Suggest hes going out gates fail to close (look electric)

he jumps out of car with it in neutral and it then rolls backwards into him. There is a camera over watching the gates :(

"Anton Yelchin's body was pinned with such force, it bent a metal security gate leading to his home ... and photos obtained by TMZ show the fury of impact.
As we reported, Yelchin's driveway is on a steep incline from the house to the street. It appears the "Star Trek" star had just left his home and cleared the security gate ... but for some reason it appears he got out and left the vehicle in neutral.
Yelchin's 5,000 pound Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled backwards and pinned him against the gate with such force, it bent the metal."

I'm genuinely gutted to hear this. For a start, what a horrifying way to die. Secondly, his acting in Odd Thomas was excellent. I love the OT books and was, frankly, rather worried when I saw they had made the first into a movie. Then I saw it and was blown away because it was just like my mental image of the book. I have been keeping my fingers crossed that after Star Trek was done that maybe they'd do some more. And now this.
A loss to cinema and an incalculable loss to his friends and family. RIP.

Wow I am massive shocked after read CNN page. :(

As a huge Star Trek fan, Anton Yelchin did fantastic actor played Chekov.

I wondered what will happen to the character in Star Trek 4? Maybe he would just mysteriously vanished and old Chekvo showed up from alternative universe in switchover.

RIP Anton Yelchin/New Chekvo. :(

I've never once put my auto in neutral, park seems the obvious thing to do! Poor guy, I hope the end was quicker than some seem to suggest.

Man, really enjoyed his Chekov, and Odd Thomas was great (should have become a TV show).

RIP dude
