That's a good shout :)

The gangster theme is pointless to me. I don't have any alternative ideas because the approach itself bothers me - I don't care what 'rank' or post count someone has, it means nothing, and is certainly no indication of the level of useful input that person has achieved or benefit to the forum that poster has provided. Case in point: me.

I like freefaller's moderator ranks simplification idea. That makes sense to me.

A rep/like/upvote system would not work here for the same reasons it doesn't work on other websites where grown adults act like children to get 'upvoted'. Also, reddit is a piece of garbage so let's not go there.

I'm a big fan of Mac Rumours forum - http://forums.macrumors.com

The layout of the various forums to me is much cleaner than the word heavy layout we have currently.

White is also refreshing - the blue could be included in there.

Staff online now is a handy feature.

Definitely need likes.

What I really like about the software Mac Rumours use is when someone likes, quotes or replies directly to your post you see this in your alerts section as a red badge.
 
Keep pretty much everything the same as it works but update to some modern software with notifications etc. I'm not adverse to a like system although as well as reducing the +1 type posts it can also reduce the quality replies as it is too easy for someone to just click like!

Yup, that's XenForo. One of the more customized boards out there, but XenForo none the less.
 
I think it should stay as is, as its fine.

If anything a Thanks/Like button below post would be good.

oh and maybe an option of superhero characters or something similar instead of the gangster pictures.

Better YouTube integration? Faster posting of videos and allowing them to be larger than the standard square box from 7 years ago? I've seen this on many other vb forums. :)

Not personally a fan of that sort of layout, whilst OcUK is fairly heavy in terms of text, it at least loads quickly, and being just text scales nicely to narrower or wider screens (whereas that mac one just adds white space to the sides above a certain size, and goes horribly wrong below a minimum size)
 
Perhaps we could have a Poll to decide on features available in Xenforo. There's no point suggesting that I'd like the forum to have instawhatsappgram integration for example if it's not an easy to switch on, out of the box solution.

I imagine a lot of things suggested, such as bliss ^ suggesting better youtube integration would be taken care of by new software anyway.

:D Must admit I felt bad for the guy who designed it. I've grudgingly grown used to it but still find it more difficult to find things than before.



That macforums is nice but by removing the front sub forums and the title posts you actually have to go into each forum to see if anything's changed. Unless there's a way of limiting new posts to certain sub forums it seems cleaner but less useful.
