Agreed. I really dislike that layout myself - lots of wasted space and deeply-nested content.
 
I would like a mobile theme - I assume most view the forums at work, but you also have a fair few who are sad enough to visit it on their mobiles!

Also, as was suggested earlier, having a switchable theme between the blue and the black would be good.

A simple @so&so feature to notify members of questions etc would be good and maybe a notification system for thread updates rather than emails?

Also, the like/upvote/rep is a good idea providing people don't take it too seriously (which they probably will so dont do it)

The naming system / signatures and avatars dont really affect me, do what you will with those!

But keep the forum as it is, one of the best things about it is to find generally good information on practically any topic!
 
Can whatever the theme of the avatars that gets agreed on contain some female characters, shock horror there are girls on the Internet :D :p
 
I like it how it is, maybe having it fixed width forum with support for embedded spreadsheets and stuff so Kaapstad can better maintain his bench threads ;)

I think that's already under discussion and was proving a problem with some of the other themes we had considered.
 
A down voting system for posts to hide irelevant or abusive ones that may not neccesarilly break any rules but still are clogging up the thread with pointless stuff would be usefull especially in the gfx card forums.

Go nuts, I will nuke it every now and then, ive disabled email validation also, so feel free to use a fake email if you want (though then you wont see how emails get sent from XenForo etc)

It's also mobile friendly out the box if you load it on your phone.

I'm happy with the gangster theme, I would just like more gangster avatars to choose from.
 
It would be cool to have new avatars. I am not sure to what though? Maybe something like war planes where you start as a WW1 biplane and work up to a modern day jet fighter with WW2 and cold war etc aircraft in between.

Yes this is a must along with updated forum software. Theme adjustments are secondary to forum features IMHO.
 
I think the forum is fine but mention with @ and a like system would be good!

a like/gay button sounds really good for useful and not so useful posts :)

i wouldn't bother with the rep system as you'll just get people trading reps and spamming hoping to get repped.

other than that the forum is great as it is.
 
Sometimes want to like posts but ultimately I'm not that bothered by the lack of feature though some kind of way of recognition for some of the people who are incredibly helpful on these forums wouldn't go amiss. Not a fan of the rep type systems either.

The only things I've felt are less than ideal really are image and video posting though the inclusion of the youtube button helped a bit but there are so many possible options, etc. there not even sure where to start.

As long as my post count doesn't disappear im fine. It took lots of nolifing to get it this high and all I have to show for it is a number! :p

Not a fan of like/dislike or rep systems really, they seem totally pointless to me.

Perhaps convert to XenForo but keep the blue theme (with optional dark and white themes), keep the gangster theme but perhaps with updated avatars of a uniform size and style. Possibly with colour! And keep the strict signature rules, but increase both size and file size limits to be in keeping with the updated layout. 50% larger with a 50KB limit for example.
