Nah he's right, rep systems on forums are absolute crapp. Brigading just occurs when people don't like someone's opinion.

Leave it as is, doesn't need modernising or pointless rep system.

It just works, leave well alone.

Agree. I actually really like this forum and it's simplicity. It's clear, clean and easy to browse (This is why OCUK to this day is still one of the main forums I instantly type in to read when I get up).

Install a mobile version of the forum.

Dont go for a dumb thanks system, we have the special avatar status' for that!

For me, update the software to something not full of holes and leave everything else the same.

I don't like the gangster theme, but can't think of anything else that would be worth replacing it with.

I don't want social features, upvoting, downvoting, rep, karma, likes, flashy things.

If for whatever reason you won't allow custom avatars, why can't you give a much wider choice?
I find it very annoying that everyone is represented by duplicated images that mostly in no way reflect the personality of the user.
I don't see the point of the avatars as it stands.

Agree. I actually really like this forum and it's simplicity. It's clear, clean and easy to browse.

Couldn't agree more. Dont get me wrong if security is lacking or the mods/admins need/want some extra features then an update is needed. Just hope the base template doesn't change too much.

The way we identify is with our signatures. The avatars are symbols of rank.

Not sure why people don't just disable the avatars from showing up if you don't like the look off them like i have done along with sigs since i don't like they showing up ruining the look off the dark theme plus it gives a nice clean look for the forum.

I'm happy with the gangster theme, I would just like more gangster avatars to choose from.

But why does there have to be a theme to the avatars at all? Is this meant to be a forum for fans of gangster dramas?
I don't what to be represented by a black and white photo of someone I have no idea of the identity of and holds no meaning or aesthetic interest for me.
And furthermore what is the point of restricting avatars when people can freely put images in their signature?

Never thought about it before but I think I'll make a quick stab at a blue theme with the features of the dark one like fixed width and image resizing.

It would be cool to have new avatars. I am not sure to what though? Maybe something like war planes where you start as a WW1 biplane and work up to a modern day jet fighter with WW2 and cold war etc aircraft in between.

Why? Lots of things evolve so apart from Cosimo, who would benefit from seeing pictures of planes which were crap and then became less crap?

Try to keep the look and feel as much as possible as the old school look of these forums does have its charms.

I think any form of rep or up voting system risks turning things into a popularity contest. It also risks escalating petty fanboy disputes given the possibility of people going around down voting every post they can find of another user just because they don't like their choice of graphics card.

A solution found option in the hardware sections would be a good feature. Give the OP / mod an option to tag a post as 'problem solved'. This should place a copy of that post under the OP saving others who are experiencing the same problem from having to potentially trawl through hundreds of posts to find the solution.

Another forum I used to use a lot had a Thanks system and it worked well, however the forums was mainly centred around the hobby, it's sub forums such as those that fall under 'Life' on here weren't used half as much as they are here so that is possibly where the system could fall over in terms of it being abused?

I would still like a Thanks/+1 type system and an update to the forum software would be good.

If things do change, my one suggestion would be to enable a image resizer plugin. Maybe to 1024 wide?

Personally I wouldn't change it at all. It's nice and simple the way it is. Changes are not always for the better and when it comes to forums they just are over complicated these days. Especially from an administration/install side of things.

Mobile version and the forum updated to a new version with image sizing etc and the ability to pick from the theme eg colour etc of your choice. More avatars so its a bit more varied.

I would like to be able to minimise category's I'm not interested in so for instance I could hide the sports/apple threads. This way I would only see areas in interested in..
