I think it is fair to say that ocuk is more accurate than any pollster. Proved so in the GE as well.

We didn't need to have it at 20% in the EU either, we chose to set it above the minimum level.

It worries me how many people voted out believing the nasty EU makes VAT 20%...

Already proved in the thread(you should have read) The EU says VAT should be between 15-27%
And the EU get their slice which is billions a year.

Yep they can call a ref to leave the UK. So can Wales, so could London in theory.

what exactly is the worry.... guy with no skills from Romania no longer allowed... but more room for non-EU person with sufficient skills to score required points...

as for financial services - yup the city could take a bit of a hit, but it will survive... plenty of other major financial centres are not in the EU either

trade is increasingly global - no reason in particular why we need to be so closely integrated to the countries that happen to be right next to us

No offense to the guy from Romania but he's not my concern. If people are contributing to the economy I dont see why they should be denied.

It's the financial services that is the main worry. They have a humongous amount of input both influence and monetary power. If they decide to pack up we lose a hell of a lot of jobs and tax income. If they dont then great but why bother threatening (scaremongering) if it wasn't on the table?

Only time will tell.

More likely they will look at the fact we left and think "Ohhhhhhhhkay then..." and stay because they are more sensible.

Or wait a year or two and see how much we are shafted/benefit from EU negotiations.
