Brexit thread - what happens next

I never said it all happened, but I'm sure money was wasted looking into it.

A google search does claim in 1994 EU regulation did specify that bananas must be free from abnormal curvature.

This was actually in place until 2008 for 26 types of fruit and vegetables. This was causing 20% waste age of good food because of eu regulations.

oh god, your complete lack of understanding.
no bananas mustn't be free of abnormal anything.
its all to do with trade and how bananas are graded, otherwise there's no regulations which makes trade harder. so highest class of banana must be free of visual defects and be certain size etc, that doesn't stop anyone buying or selling any other banans they just cant be classes as top grade.

this makes perfect sense when you are trading across countries in huge numbers and cant inspect before you buy.

really do your research and stop supporting twoddle.
you know what actually causes waste of food and far more than 20% is supermarkets and that has nothing to do with any regulations.

By choice? or through the sphere of influence/power being dominated down there? It's time for a reset in any case, London is a cesspool :(

Wat?

All that's going to happen is a further divide between London and associated regions and the rest of the country. London has seen this as being shafted by the regions and will likely be a bit of a pain in reverse. You say reset, but London is simply too big to be significantly affected - it'll most likely grow stronger whilst the Tories spend years properly ****ing the rest of the country.

A vote for Leave was a vote for austerity, a vote for job losses, a vote for no foreign investment until deals are in place, a vote for no international confidence in our markets. It could work out well in years and years time, but it also couldn't. There's absolutely no guarantee that we'll emerge from this any stronger.

It really is shocking and scandalous isn't it, that the right wing media and politicians have peddled these myths for so long they just exist in peoples conciousness and factor towards the pejorative view they held of the EU, which then with just a few more lies at the time of the vote, have manipulated them into this course of action.

My understanding wasn't based on factual numbers, that wasn't the point. The money that they spend back on us is controlled by them, not the rebate which may or may not go to them in the first place.

Our administration costs would be included in our new trade deal. But instead of paying £160m per week (your numbers) we would pay nearer what Norway and Switzerland pay, which is around £100m, with free movement removed.

And why are we going to get free movement removed? They didnt??????

I voted leave and it was an unprecedented revolt against the political elite which has been along time coming.

My issue now is that the Brexit camp have no plan in place for this, Boris and Gove thought that it would be remain, they wanted the results reversed, 48% Leave and 52% Remain, enough to damage Cameron to get him to leave number 10 and for them to swing in and still be in the EU.

There "Victory" speeches displayed that in droves.

At the end of it all, the UK is independent, we have the ability to trade with the entire world now, we have our sovereignty back and now have legitimate control of borders now.
Lol a revolt against the political elite by voting for a load of rich right wing Torries and a rich right wing mep, so your saying you revolted against the political elite by baking the political elite? You really couldn't make this stuff up!

Can we eat, sell or otherwise profit from this off mentioned poorly defined sovereignty thing that people seem to think we have lost and found?

Stop being so rude! Nearly everyone I have heard supporting leave on this forum has put at least one swear word in their post. You're trying to say the leave campaign isn't hateful but you're doing the opposite.

I stand by my view that the leave campaign is motivated at least in part by racism and hatred, lies and misrepresentation. I know it's not a popular view but I have had no evidence to convince me of the contrary. I hope there will be some day.

Your view is skewed!

It's up to the current government to have a plan in place for both remain and leave. Not the campaign groups. The PM and the cabinet, along with the Bank of England, should have had strategies in place.

At the end of it all, the UK is independent, we have the ability to trade with the entire world now, we have our sovereignty back and now have legitimate control of borders now.

We're not independent yet. Nobody has invoked article 50 yet. Then it takes 2 years after that to be fully free. If the EU vote accepts the renegotiation. Until then, we're still a full member of the EU. We may end up having a general election before article 50 is invoked. It may never be invoked, and the next government may think its in our best interests to stay in the EU.

The referendum is just a country wide poll. Its result isn't a legally binding action.

I am not in favour of Boris or Gove at all for PM

No one knew what the fallout would be.

Parliament hasn't been listening to the majority of the country for years now and now finally this vote has forced them too.

The point now is that Westminster will have to change there mind set, they cannot continue with there pre-brexit politics, its changed and they must do to take this country forward
