Radeon RX 480 "Polaris" Launched at $199

Nothing ridiculous about it; at best case without the Pound issues we were expecting the 8GB reference card to come in at £215-£220 which would still cost me £257 / €308 with shipping.

a 215 pound card will cost you 269 euro inc shipping (just checked)

Cheaper if the pound keeps falling

last week a 215 pound card would have cost you at least 290 euro inc shipping

Speaking of RMA who should I go with if I get the RX 480? Do any of them have a special "quick" warranty relationship with OCUK? Which ones are return to OCUK and which are return to manufacturer? Which manufacturer has RMA in UK and not ship abroad?

Cheers in advance to whoever answers.

AFAIK OC UK handles that

Something that is annoying is the card has launched, yet they won't share the full specs. Hardly a launch if we don't actually know the details.

Also.. i truly hope it doesn't only have 32 ROPS. That would suck. I know it's been said they are not as important going forward, but still.. seems like a backwards step if you own a lot of old games (or even a lot of current games). Thoughts?

its not launched yet.....29th it launches :D

So why is the 470 showing 48 rops which is also Polaris. Support from what i gather relies on the database being correct. If it's wrong then so will the Gpu-Z readout be as it has been with other cards in the past.

It could well be 32 rops but if you are pushing Polaris support as your angle then you have to take in the 470 results to your conclusion.

It's 32 end of.

I tell you what, how good value are those £200 290X turning out to be when they sold them off? Is a 480 going to be that much of a leap for 290X users? If I were one I'd be tempted to keep it and wait for something big.

I am in this exact position, my MSI lighting 290x is found wanting powering my XR34

Id like a decent upgrade and soon

I don't give a crap about cool, I want to know how this will impact the card performance wise. Does it mean that using AA will impact the card, or z-buffer issues due to limited rops etc?

Why are they reducing ROPS? You would think that there would be a push for 128 ROPS on the higher end cards, and the mid-range would be pushing 64 by now, unless they were being utilized less, or the compute parts could do the same task etc.... Can anyone explain why please?
