The next Labour leader thread

I see many here saying Corbyn is not electable but how many would actually vote for Labour if there was someone else as leader?

I personally think Corbyn is good and has some very good ideas but unfortunately the status quo don't want change so are doing their utmost to get rid of him. I doubt I would vote if they manage to get rid of JC to be replaced by some other slimy Blair wannabe.
It's sick that the rebels are blaming Corbyn for the Labour voters choosing to Leave. Did they honestly think people would blindly do whatever the Labour leader told them to? This is the contempt they seem to have for their voters.

no one, only David was electable... and he cant possibly run without serious fudging in Cox' Seat.

Dan Jarvis would be probably the most likely imo. The problem is that anyone with any plans of leading long term will be wanting to Steer clear of this mess.

With JC calling for Tony Blair to be held to account and tried as a war criminal I'm not surprised all these lie-ing cheating backstabbing other politicians want him out.

God forbid a politician has to be held accountable for their actions and words.

Pretty much!

Unless the PLP are right and he doesn't get on any subsequent ballot.

Yeah, conflicting legal opinions on that one. Going to depend on the decision of the nec (precedent suggests nominations as per Kinnock vs Benn in 87)

I can see several scenarios where Labour splits. Can't see that being a good thing at this time though.

This has given me an idea for a fun thread mind. Will post it up after tea if the newborn gives me chance.

So if there's a leadership election and the Labour members vote in Jeremy again, then what? A lot of awkwardness?

I hope he stays to at least have a chance at the election. What these rebels don't seem to understand is that if Corbyn had really been unelectable like they think then they would have lost many seats during the local elections.
It just shows what these opportunistic scumbags are like when they try a coup whilst the country is in crisis.

The media is doing their bit to make it look like labour is doomed with him in charge but the fact is Labour will probably lose anway no matter who is leader due to the loss of Scotland to the SNP. Until voters in England decide to kick out the Tories I'm afraid Labour is not going to win.

At this point in the electoral cycle, the local elections were disastrous.

the present labour party is an laughing stock under mr corbyn 2-3 times now he has resuffled his shadow cabinet,mp's quiting and 172-40 votes of no confidence in him. can't this stubborn person take a hint no one wants him in. my prediction there will be an new form of labour party a break away labour party called the new labour:D:D:D

Labour probably should split. In fact our parties probably need a shake up in general.

North of the border we need to scrap Lab/Con/Lib and create a Unionist Party to consolidate the vote and push the SNP out of power. At least in the Scottish Parliament.

In England and Wales we probably need to see the Labour split into Socialists and Progressive Democrats, the former being Corbyn, Ken Livingstone et al whereas the latter would be your Blairites. The right is already split amongst UKIP and the Tories, but with UKIP becoming somewhat defunct it seems like they need to rebrand themselves as something that will appear to the working class.

The most amusing thing about this {or scary if you like }

Is that there are about 210 Labour MP's that were campaigning for us to stay..

Strong Labour areas like the North East of England, North midlands etc Voted to leave.

When corbyn was elected he got 60% i believe of Labour members vote.

So... Labour MP's are ignoring the wishes of Labour voters in there heartland areas regarding the Brexit vote.
And. ignoring the wishes of Labour voters regarding the leader..

Makes for interesting times i think.

labour mp's where on the bbc thursday night talking up how its all the tories fault for everything, even out local labour councillors have been at it as well. this shows how out of touch labour is and has been for many years now where rather than listening and acting on what their electorate say they just go on with the "we know best" attitude. sad times a head for the labour party if they dont change and change fast.
