The next Labour leader thread

I have a question and Google was failing me. These MP's that quit, is it like me quitting my job? i.e. i no longer get paid, pension no longer has me or the company paying into it etc? Or do they just fall back into other roles and keep wages, membership of whatever parliament buildings?

I'm just trying to work out how serious what they have done for their beliefs is. For example i quit and i'd probably lose the house over my families head if i don't find a new job. Is it that extreme?

They're still MPs, they're just resigning from their positions in the party.
The only people that lose money when they resign are people in government positions of responsibility, as that responsibility comes with extra pay.

I think the labour party needs a drastic shakeup, the leader should not take the brunt of the blame. Vote for Corbyn here, at least he is a decent and genuine man who has accepted the EU result. The rest of them are acting like the voters don't matter, just like the SNP, the Liberals and some Tories. No respect for the UK public.

I've never understood why Corbyn even stayed in Labour. He voted against nearly everything they put forward. Some of his views were more in line with the Green Party than Labour.

He hasn't changed his views while the rest of the party went through their New Labour moment.

There needs to be a left-wing counter to the Tories, and currently Labour isn't it.

They've resigned their shadow cabinet positions. They are still MPs.

They have quit as members of the Shadow Cabinet, not as MPs. Only the leader of the opposition, the chief whip and the deputy chief whip draw additional salaries for their roles so none of those who have resigned will suffer monetary harm by doing so.

Thanks guys. :) So its more of a statement making exercise.

I suppose the crucial element of whoever is going to lead them next is whether they can unite the party.

I don't see Corbyn doing that.

Exactly,

It doesn't matter what his plan is, or what is ideas are, or even how good *or bad* he might be... If he can't unite the party and get on with it, then he's a goner. Considering right now - the country could do with some serious leadership, Labour with Corbyn at the helm is just totally incapable of anything remotely resembling leadership.

Time to sign up to be a Labour party supporter i think.

Just so i can vote for Corbyn in any leadership contest { just for the LOL's }

I wonder how many will do that

This three quid thing, I'm not even sure any more how much of a problem it really is and how thorough are the check in place to prevent outright sabotage. Heard he was going to do another round, though. Students and the like.

Corbyn is a poor leader within the establishment. .

Think we have found the real problem.

PMQs are the voiceless being raised.

The media is equally nit to blame by not giving him a platform. Speaking of platforms a few very prominent leave campaigners were given minimal airtime.

Maybe Corbyn was given very little opportunity.

As well as the Tories going through trouble, the Labour party needs to expel totally its own MPs who are currently located somewhere in orbit and not on the real world.

Old Labour needs to come back or at the very least some of their values. These days the new/young imposters are in because of safe seats and are exact carbon copies of the other side of the house.
