The next Labour leader thread

I don't personally believe this has anything to do with the referendum. The other factor here is that the chilcot inquiry is due next week. I smell Blairites. They don't want him on the stage when it comes out because he will crucify them.

I don't agree with a lot of his views but he is against austerity which I believe is dividing our country more than anything else by punishing the poor for bailing out the banks and the mistakes of the top 1%

Staggered at the ineptitude of Labour. They could be gaining massive ground right now, Corbyn was one of the few people making sense in the run up to the referendum.

If the PLP force a leadership election and he wins again (which seems likely), they will be done.

Actually this is the first time I can recall I've seen strength from him.

He isn't arrogant, he's remaining because the party want him there.

And this is absolutely why he should stay, the people who matter (hint, not the MPs) are in favour of him, the fact that a majority of labour MPs want rid of the most popular/democratically elected leader they will have had for some time just goes to show you how out of touch they really are with the people that still vote labour out of a sense of duty rather then because the labour government actually does anything to fight their cause.

They should all be ashamed of themselves, they're meant to have concern for the people they represent, not themselves.

As far as I can see it the only way Corbyn could have done better out of all of this would have been to actually be the opposition, campaign for brexit, like so many of the typically labour constituencies eventually plumped for and been the real common working mans leader rather than giving in to the Blairites for the first time in his career.

To me it says something when you have the backing of Dennis Skinner, one of the few honest, and hard working people left in that den of vipers.

I think we'll come out of this with Labour headed by Corbyn (or an ally of his) as a genuine left-leaning party. Many sitting Labour MPs will need to either form or join another party.

It does mean Labour will basically be in disarray until campaigning starts for the next election.

Got to hand it to Milliband, not only did he run a disastrous election campaign off the back of the financial nightmare that was Gordon Brown, losing Labour virtually all of Scotland and making the chance of them ever ruling again rather slim.

Just to really put the knife in, he also ushered in One Member One Vote allowing the Hard Left to take over the party and elect a bloke who appeals to the man out selling Socialist Worker Newspapers and not a lot else.

Come the next election they can round up as many luvies, hard lefties, uni students and social justice warriors they want, it wont help.

They'll no doubt get some of the core seats that only ever vote for Labour, but with Corbyn or one of his proteges in charge they'll lose even more close seats.

They'll never get middle England back in this mode and therefore they'll never be running the country.

Labour are so screwed. Not good for politics, not good for the UK.

This was quite clearly a bad political move by the rebels, they didn't get their way so they've resorted to personal attack and name calling. Corbyn shouldn't just "gift" them the outcome they wanted anyway, because he'd be rewarding them for their lack of planning, and paving the way for a party where a complete lack of political tact is the norm.

Did everyone see all the smacked face MPs at this weeks PMQT :D

Absolutely brilliant. Every single one from a certain politic had a bloody nose. Very sombre and a sign that we plebs, peasants and scumbags got to them.

When you drop a big brown log in the middle of the pool, it does tend to make those responsible for keeping the pool clean and nice for everyone to use unhappy, yes. But it's not them who'll suffer from the freshly turded pool, it's everyone who is swimming in it.

But, hey, you squeezed out a good one, amiright? Really socked it to those pool cleaners.

Just got to laugh at this... couldn't make it up.

They've completely screwed their own pooch on this one. They look like they'll fail to push Corbyn out, they have no plan B, they've made themselves look bad, they've made the party look bad, and they've let the Tories get away scot free just when they're looking at their most vulnerable.

Amazing.

It's great, the Public can see them for what they are... children.

Edit: Union meeting over, what clout do they actually have ? can they kick him out?

They can't kick him out. But their view is a good indication of how their members might vote in a leadership election - although it's not an infallible representation as despite what a lot of people think, union members don't just vote the way their unions leader suggests they should.

I remember Raoh is a fan of Galloway's anyway, lol. So it explains a few things: why start one fire, if you can burn the house and the barn down too?!

Splendid.
