BBC Top Gear - Series 23 discussion thread

Just saw an advert which says the next episode is the series finale?

I assume that doesn't mean the same thing it does with US TV shows.

Surely it means it's the last in this series? Like a season finale would mean last in the season for a US show? Wikapedia seems to think there were only 6 recorded. (Unless that just updates before the next show)

We call them series, they call them seasons.

When are they going to realise the new SIARPC segment is awful?

I gave CE the benefit of the doubt to begin with but he's still unbearable.

everybody I know ends up fast forwarding it if they've got it recorded. It just needs to go or get re vamped into something enjoyable.

They've only made 6 episodes in this series... so it's the final one on Sunday... then we've got to wait until probably Xmas to see what happens to this show...

Pffffttnluuuurgmeh...

So much ups and downs. I feel like I'm forcing my way through most of the dross in order to see the few good bits.

The Rolls thing was quite clearly meant to be a Brexit thing. A modern, EU built Rolls vs a pre EU Rolls, people voting, a campaign, etc etc. But it was either rehashed because the vote didn't turn out how people expected or it was just really badly written in the first place. Yet another hurriedly forced film with no context or explanation.

I figured it was just a different definitions.

A series finale in the US means the last episode for the entire show.

I really didn't get any Brexit context in the Rolls segment. None.

Well that was kind of my point. It clearly started out as a plan to write a piece with a Brexit tone, but ended up either having it all edited out, or was just badly written in the first place.

What are you talking about? There wasn't a hint of politics in the Rolls feature, and these features were recorded a fair while before the vote anyway.

lol, people are reading WAY too much into this show!

I watched all the episodes so far in reverse order yesterday and TBH it's really not that bad. Sure, the first episodes were a bit dodgy but as long as you fast forward the rally car nonsense, it's actually quite an enjoyable show!

EJ looked seriously peeved at not being able to drive the GLC any further :D

Biggest issue so far has been the lack of laughs and nothing has gone wrong. Three used cars and not a sign of a breakdown.
I have smiled at a few things but not really laughed. No one has done or said anything remarkable. It is becoming 5th Gear, dull.
Andi.

Chris Evans has to get the sack. Surely they can't give him another chance after all the damage he has caused?

The trio of CH MLB and RR would definitely be the way forward for the show as they have shown to be good at what they do.

The reliant in the first episode. But they just stuck it on a flat bed and drove it up to Blackpool that way and then expected us to care about it making it in from there?

I actually really enjoyed this weeks episode.

I'm glad to see Chris Harris is in it more - his segments are getting better and better.
