The next Labour leader thread

Jeremy Corbyn said:
Our Jewish friends are no more responsible for the actions of Israel or the Netanyahu government than our Muslim friends are for those of various self-styled Islamic states or organisations.

As if his opponents didn't have enough ammunition. :o

Tell you what, if Gove ends up being the PM, then Stormin' Corbyn stands a decent chance come the next GE.

Give me a name of a Labour MP that you think is centre left? I bet you 100% that neither I or the majority of the current membership will agree they are centre left.

Yeah, but you're left, so everything is right to you :p

The problem is what is the centre? Then you can judge whether they're left or right or not!

They aren't really centre left though if you're referring to the 'Blairites', they are more centre right I reckon

I think a Left opposition will do a lot of good for UK politics, even if they stay in opposition. I don't think the tories will regain the popularity they've lost recently & will have to listen what the opposition are saying & work harder in order to win votes.

Isn't this just a variation of the "no true Scotsman" argument? They don't agree with you therefore they are right wing not left?

Well, word is that a Jewish MP at the conference walked out in tears, so something must have been wrong there.

My MP... Check out her funding, her writing and of course we cannot forget her on Wikileaks either.

She actually is a drama queen... One who is anti-Corbyn, resigned this week and now is trying to make more of a show that the gullible in society think she has a "right" to be offended. Bigger picture, an MP who is worth their weight in salt would not have behaved in such a way as she did.

Luckily and hopefully will be beaten in the next election..

Note: Can't find my post that I said it in but I predicted the press would drag up the anti-Semitism would be used again and low and behold, that is starting now.

For what its worth I question the motives of Smeeth and there is a lot of evidence to show she is a duplicitous MP (much like many others)

Angela Eagles on the Bbc in the early hours during the referendum result.

Seemed completely oblivious to why people voted to leave. I watched this as it happened and was gobsmacked.

It would be no suprise if they voted her in and we watch yet another Labour pantamine unfold.

I'm confused.

I'm listening to Angela Eagle and thinking "Isn't this just a female Corbyn with centre-right views?". I mean, if you look at many MPs stated reasons for wanting rid of him, it's largely because he isn't strong enough, isn't 'statesman'-like. But I'm not really seeing anything different from Angela. She's no Blair, Cameron or Clegg. She's another Brown/Corbyn/Campbell.

Where's the point in binning one **** leader for another one?

Tell you what, if Gove ends up being the PM, then Stormin' Corbyn stands a decent chance come the next GE.

I doubt it. Corbyn's appeal is with that section of the British Hard-Left, the study of which is better called archaeology.

Labour would be better off with someone like Andy Burnham.

The point is to let her take the bile for stabbing Corbyn, and then alter the election system so that the MPs can pick their preferred leader for the next election.

So the idea is to go through three leaders in a few months?

The idea did cross my mind, but I couldn't quite believe they'd do it. I can't help but think it would harm their chances in a snap election as much as keeping Corbyn as leaders.

She has to win a leadership contest first - which I think is highly unlikely.
