Things to do in Barcelona

Park Guell, but go from the back, and go up all the escalators in the street, i'll update with the metro stop you need for this...

Metro stop Vallcarca, then up baixada de la gloria

The best meal I've had there was the taster menu at Restaurant Semproniana (Carrer del Rosselló, 148). So delicious. Possibly not worth a special trip but if you happen to be nearby.. (Edit: looking at their website I'm not sure they do it any more. Pity!)

Go to the parc de la ciutadella. Best Park I went to and free. Park guell is nice, but when I went it was full of rude chinese tourists (needing to photograph everything and stand in obtuse places)
The sagrada familia and fountain show are other good shouts.

I've just got back yesterday and it was my 3rd time there..

Well I've never been mugged.. Or pick pocketed.. and I have been pretty drunk.. I am starting to think this is a load of rubbish.

My favourite places in no particular order apart from El Nacional because I love it...

1. El Nacional - it's a foodies heaven this place. 4 different themed restaurants in a gorgeous building
2. Sagrada familia - it's took me untill the third time to see it but it's worth it.
3. Boadas cocktails - old fashioned cocktail bar
4. Barcalona football ground - nice bars and good shop
5. Port Olympic - awesome nightclubs that back onto the beach - they get extremely busy and drinks are a fortune but otherwise pretty cool. Watch out for the dress code at Pacha and they will happily let you stand in the que for hours before turning you away.
6. Grand hotel Centrals rooftop terrace on an evening - non residents can access after 8pm
7. Can Cisa / Bar Brutal wine bar - awesome local organic wine place
8. Spoonik - awesome Michelin star food... Expensive though and you need to book and pay a deposit.
9. Sensi tapas - brilliant tapas place but is small and gets quite busy
10. Black lab brewery / bar - really nice beers and friendly staff

Places I wouldn't bother with

1. Hard Rock Cafe - overpriced and in my opinion one of the worst I've been too
2. The aquarium - average at best

Places I could take or leave

1. The fountains
2. The bus tours - but I hate bus tours so maybe that's just me

Is Barca really as bad as it seems for muggers and pick pockets?!

A friend of mine moved there for a few months with work and was literally mugged for his entire luggage, wallet and phone when he stepped off the train on the day of his arrival.

I always hear of pick pockets but then you tend to only hear about the negative.

I've been to Barcelona three times in the last 5 years and never faced these issues at all.

Pickpocketers yes, but not any more than i See in the clubs in Ibiza etc

I went for a week about 3 years ago (for a Celtic match mostly) and never got anything stolen and I was on the subway every single day.
