Matuidi would be a good signing, we need some bite in midfield. I'd want someone else alongside him though then ship out some of the dross. Oh and Atletico are excellent.

English press picking up reports from Italy finally about us being in front of Napoli for Witsel - https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/jul/05/everton-axel-witsel-move-ahead-napoli

Echo report we've held talks with Pelle - http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor...ews/koeman-wants-pelle-everton-blues-11572986

And some fool in charge of the EFC Twitter account forgot to change to their personal account and replied to an image of Mata.

Answering your question, yes I do think Atletico are better than any side in the PL.

And while Leicester proved to be the most consistent side in the PL last season, at their best, there were at least 6 sides that imo are/were far better sides that Leicester. You're not suggesting that Leicester had the best group of players in the PL last season are you?

It's a results business and the team at the top at the end of season, are the best team in the league.

Seeing as Leicester only lost 3 games all season, so only Arsenal who beat them home and away, are the better team. If the other 5 teams you mentioned were much better then how come they didn't beat them hands down?

Manchester United were crazy to let Pogba go. It was obvious he was going to be a great player.

So which is it, are Arsenal or Leicester the best team in the league?

Leicester were the most consistent side in the League last year and deserved to win the title, I'm not disputing that. There's no way in my mind (and I suspect most would say the same) that Leicester had the best group of players in the League last season and or if every team were playing at their peak, Leicester would have finished anywhere near the top.

I'm not saying that counted for anything last year because it didn't but looking forward and those clubs' potential performances this coming season, imo, the strength of Leiecester's squad makes it far more likely that we'll see a massive decline in performance and the exact opposite from a number of clubs that finished below them.

Jesus Gamez seems likely to sign from Atleti. Solid, experienced defender who'll most likely boss it in the Champ. Pleased about this one. Sign all the Spanish players, please.

lol, the rules are very clear but on a topic that is entirely subjective ;)

If peoeple kept to discussing the appointment and kept it on topic it would be fine but when people start generally talking about whether Ibrahimovic is any good it no longer is. The next thing Utd will announce a new signing and it will go in there then a new sponsor and 6 months down the line it will be used to vent frustrations after a loss to Liverpool and so on.

But if we discuss future formations and things in the transfer thread then every year we get accused by non United fans of the transfer thread being 95% United talk and every year we get mods threatening to close the transfer thread when people start talking about the things that transfers impact (tactics etc)

I can understand the no club threads rule in season, having the weekend threads is much better but in the off season it's a silly rule that just hampers discussion. This is hardly the largest sub forum and over moderating just seems unnecessary. As Baz said, threads evolve organically, especially on a forum like this which is very....chatty. This isn't a bad thing and stamping it out just harms the forum.

:p you nearly had me believing until that last sentence.

Hasn't been anywhere near enough Boro talk in here... we're back in the big time :D

Been a reasonable transfer window so far, quite happy with the signings, we still need a top striker mind otherwise we're going to struggle to score goals I think.

Latest rumour: Victor Valdes to Boro is gaining some momentum, but we've been linked to about half a dozen keepers so far this window.

:D

Actually come to think about that, thats possibly one thing we will lose with JM - such great EPL results at Anfield

Robin van Persie to Boro seems to be doing the rounds too.

April 1st already?

Would anyone in the EPL touch him? For a few matches a season he will be untouchable, but his (chronic) injuries surely make most transfers here impossible to fathom, unless he was aftter stupidly low wages......
