Rear tyre is getting low on tread. Since this is the first time I've had to look at tyres for the CBR I might move away from the Metzelers that are on there at the moment. They have never let me down, they just aren't confidence inspiring.

Pilot road 4 were really good on the SV, but I'm tempted by the Angel ST. Don't know how many miles the ST are good for though.

I'd be commuting and playing so need to take that into account

The ST are the older version of the GT IIRC, I've had the GTs on my SV since the end of last year and done around 6k on them now both commuting and playing and they've never given me any doubt even in the worst of the weather we've had recently. There's still another few k left in the rear easily so I imagine I'll be knocking on the door of 10k miles before it needs replacing.

If you can get a worthwhile saving then it could be worth the trip, I'd hire a van so at least I could relax on the journey home. I said to my dad I wouldn't travel for more than 2 hours again to pick up a bike, I'd rather just pay slightly more for a local one, unless I could get a big discount for travelling.
With the colour/year I want I'll most probably have to travel anyway, there's not many about. I know they've had this bike for a while (in general Tuono factories don't tend to sell that quickly) and I know how much they bought it for :) Most dealers deliver now too for a fee (I'd always try and get it included in the price).

If you can get the Angel GT's, get them. I got 8k out of my rear and that was only because it was squared off and down to the tread indicators in the middle, there was loads of tread left on the sides.

You sure it doesn't just need a clean with a sealmate? Odd for then to go just after standing for a bit.

The dust seal is the original one from 2005 so well past its useable life. Looking at the colour of the oil it's probably the OEM fluid too. For the hours work to rebuild the forks I might as well.

I believe the STs are just the older model. GTs are latest.

Well that has impressed me, tiny spray of wd40 onto some tissue, the tar came off with no pressure at all, i wasn't expecting it to be that easy! Cheers for the tip! :)

No problem! I always clean under the tail where excess lube flings up, the exhausts and brake dust off the wheels with it. Just melts away all the nasty stuff.

Most parts I order from mainland Europe arrive quicker than ones ordered from within the UK to be honest.

To be fair they do state 2-5 working days so you're still well within that.

Is there a new version of the speed camera van now? Seen 2 in the last 2 days with both of the flaps down at the back. Did I just catch them as they were setting up or is this how they are now?

They might have had both down to get some air as it's been hot :D
Or if it was on a dual carriageway, dual cameras to check both lanes.

Either way, if you see a camera van parked up, it's probably active.

There's an extra special place in hell for those self abusers that sit 6 inches off your back wheel on a freshly surface dressed road, it's one step beyond the place reserved for the people who actually think laying the stuff is a good idea in the first place.

You would expect the hatches to be up in that case. But I mean both hatches were closed

I'm not sure they can take a speed reading through glass as I would have thought it would distort the reading (I may well be wrong so don't go nailing it past them :D) but they usually have another normal camera set up to catch bike plates videoing through the windscreen.

Looks like it might have to be open?

Nah they can shoot through the glass:

Question: I would like to ask your advice, I think I was caught by a mobile van yesterday but the windows were not open, I even captured it on my dashboard cam (photo below). Do the windows need to be open for it operate?

Mobile Speeed Camera Targets Car

Answer: It is possible for the camera equipment in the van to operate while the windows are closed. This is a common question that we are asked.

Subsequent message from the person asking the questions, confirms that he/she was caught speeding on this section of the road by the mobile Police speed camera van through the CLOSED WINDOW. It is a myth that you will not be caught speeding if the windows on a mobile speed camera are closed, as this motorist has confirmed.

Told you I'd probably be talking balls, to be fair if I've gotten close enough to notice if they're open or not then it's too late anyway :D
