Video games and movies weren't around at the time the Bible was written, so they aren't ingrained as bad with the aged 50+ right-leaning average Tory party member in the way that sex is.

Why as a society do we seem to not care about extreme violence?
Don't talk crap.
We 50+ were having private parties with films on reel and having a collection at strip nights so they would lock the doors for the saucy stuff.
I know that my 80 year old Dad and all his mates were going to these parties in the 60s.
In the early 70s I had to be very careful putting my Dads collection back in the exact same place.
In the 80s there were people you could get videos off and so on who had a very lucrative business on the factory I worked at.
You young uns have no idea how lucky you are to have the internet where you don't have to try like we 50+ had to.
I don't know one 50+ who didn't have dirt when they were younger and probably still have it now.
It's as bizarre as it is fascinating,
/boring anecdote
I was stood in the shop only a day or two ago, and the front-page of the daily whatever, was ranting and raving about how ITV had shown a "sex scene" at 9pm, and how this was so utterly terrible, and a "new low" for "British telly"
Then I remembered the time Sky news showed clips of ISIS pushing blindfolded homosexuals off rooftops (ok some of it was censored) in the middle of the daytime, and nobody batted an eyelid..
It frankly confuses the hell out of me - why is it so terrible to watch something sexy, yet perfectly fine to watch people get butchered.. It's complete and total nonsense..
Are you a Tory party member?
Some things should not be shared.
I've never voted for anybody, I don't know enough.
However when I was a teenager we had Mary Whitehouse & Lord Longford who stopped us looking at boobies.
But are you a Tory party member? Because if you aren't then your rebuttal to my point that older Tory party members are scared of sex with your story about porn through the ages, while interesting, wasn't relevant.

Sex scandals amongst MPs isn't the same as attitudes within the party membership, though. Members being the paid-up supporters picking the next PM, not the parliamentary group. The membership isn't really known for liberal attitudes to anything.
Strange thing is, original saw was a suoerb film with a decent twist, just happened to have violence along the way, i have nothing against either type of extreme, as long as it is comtextual. Adult films are there for a reason, i don't have anything against either, yet in an increasingly violent society more is being done to protect children from one and not the other.
Well it's how they vote that is important. If the party as a whole didn't see prohibition and 'think of the children' attitudes to legislation as a positive thing then May wouldn't have ended up as home secretary.
