New cabinet

It is the stuff of nightmares for remainers.

Indeed. But if "Brexit means Brexit" what else could she do but appoint key Leavers into the roles that will be involved most closely with negotiations?

This way, when the EU play hardball and compromises have to be accepted, no-one can say it was half-hearted Remainers doing the negotiating.

And compromises will have to be made.

Please welcome your new Foreign Secretary. I'm sure he'll do a sterling job, or is that a job on sterling?

Genuinely think Boris is going to be a fantastic foreign secretary

Yes, his career as a journalist definitely qualifies...wait, what?

On what basis do you think Boris Johnson will be a good foreign secretary? That he's a bit of a laugh and is full of #topbantz?

I do wonder if she got rid of Osbourne because she doesn't want to be aligned to his austerity message?

I doubt we'll hear the word again under the new chancellor.

Amber Rudd is Home Secretary. Unbelievable...of everyone I watched through the referendum debates, nobody was as vile and repugnant in their attitudes and behaviour as Amber Rudd. Disgusted that she has been rewarded with such a position.

The position of Home Secretary has quite often been described as a poisoned chalice. It takes sustained careful attention, political skill and luck to come out of it well. Do you think Amber Rudd has those qualities?

Looks like gove didn't get any position? Good for Boris indeed. Nobody likes a backstabbing weasel

Yep, Hope he never leaves the backbenches again. A conniving traitor.

As for Boris, I think he's looked pretty downbeat since the vote. Everyone knows he was hoping for a close defeat. That would have put him in a fantastic position for PM after guaranteeing our EU membership and gaining the support of the entire leave vote. Now, he escapes the fallout by not running for PM only to be dragged right back into the thick of it after being backed into a corner and offered a job he can't refuse. If he had refused it, he would have taken a possible non survivable political lynching.

This might be an incredibly retarded question, but what qualifies someone to become Chancellor of the Exchequer (I know they're actually 'picked'). Hammond has in the past been the Transport Minister- surely he can't have trained all his life to be an expert at both transportation and the economy?

The civil servants do all the work and they aren't even politically affiliated

Austerity is a Conservative party policy not an osbourne only thing if she ditches that she ditched the half the manifesto that got the party elected so I can't see it happening. We won't here so much about it because the cuts will be hidden behind brexit rhetoric!
