Have you checked your state pension forecast?

You spend more than £155 a day? On what exactly?

Edit -

Also you might as well claim it and put the money in a saving account for any grand children etc.

Life!

Some of us earn a lot more then the 50k net that seems to be some sort of bragging rights on here.

Put it this way - I can earn 50k a month if the contract and package is right. The wife earns lower, but not by a great deal.

Just tried to get my state pension forecast but they can't confirm my identity, I guess this due to me not having a passport.

It's like something from Brexit, immigrants coming over here yet born & bred folk can't prove they come from here.

I didn't use my passport, I used a wage slip for my NI and Tax amount.

You are doing it wrong then. There are plenty of ways to confirm your identity. Maybe spend some time to learn something instead of blaming immigrants for your failing. :p

I'm not blaming immigrants. I voted Remain. :p

Wage slip worked for me too, get a job you bum!

I have a job. I've been in employment half my life, the other half being school!

Just tried again, Clicked UK passport >>> asked for my passport details >>> clicked I don't have this information >>> sorry can't confirm who you are, contact Future Pensions Centre.

Same when I click that I don't have a UK passport.

Just done the test in the OP's link and got the exact same figure as the OP's. 19 full years served and 3 incomplete years.

Over the last 12 months I've been to at least 1 funeral a month where all of them have been under 60. I've got 8 years to go for retirement and I don't think I'll make it. From my perspective this 'people are living longer' isn't happening.

This.

The WW2 generation was the longest living generation - those who are now in their mid-80s / 90s. Life expectancy is now regressing.

It really isn't. The number of old people has risen but so has the number of people now dying in their late 50s / early 60s.

GMO food has to play a big part but they'll never admit to it.

Lol, what uneducated nonsense. How can you even believe that. Been reading conspiracy sites again.

2 incomes net?

Median household income which a bit more comparable is a lot lower than £56k net.

The maximum LHA amounts can be found here.

http://england.shelter.org.uk/get_a...at_is_housing_benefit/local_housing_allowance

You also have to justify the size of the property. So if you are a retired couple, assuming you are allowed a 1 bed property, the maximum that can be claimed for a 1 bed property is £260 per week.

Good point. Didn't think of net. Either way that's not that high (probably two London average salaries net) if you add in bills/rent/mortgage.

So basically lots of renters are going to be struggling in a few years, unless things seriously change.

I have exactly the same on that site as the OP.

I do have a military pension that pays around £380 a month now and with go up substantially when I hit 55.

Add to that the legally required company pension too.

I'm sure the tax man will get another bite of the cherry on this lot again.

179.19 per week, interesting, more than I thought.

I've hit the max on my contributions and will get £172.69 pw, yippee!!!!!!

Can someone explain why the variance? I am showing £155.65/week...

Edit - Why do I need another 13 years of contributions if I have 21 years done and the maximum you need is 30? Whats the other 4 years for?

Well that's a bit pants isn't it?

So I work another 6 years to get £155.65, then, assuming the retirement age remains the same (and it likely won't) I work for around 20 years for no conceivable or tangible benefit?

You think like this really ?

No tangible benefit... really i mean honestly... no tangible benefit...

This disgusts me tbh.

There should be a way to opt out of state pension and pay more into a private pension instead. If you work anywhere half decent they match what you put in each month (a good company at ~5%, some more)

I bet the government don't match 5% of your monthly wage

Then explain it.

It has to be something. People are less active? More people drive instead of walk? People eat too much convenience food?

There are less smokers than there use to be.

We are meant to be the healthiest generation of people alive, yet everyone is dropping like flies.

Baby boomer generation relied more on local produce or even grew their own.

Lifestyle or tainted food. Take your pick.

Also, the numbers of people suffering from young age dementia has rocketed up. Wtf

There is nothing to explain, because your original statement that people are dying younger isn't true. Babies born today have a greater life expectancy than at any point in our history - http://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulat...rticles/mortalityinenglandandwales/2012-12-17

I'm happy to read up on your stats which contradict this if you can provide them.
