So no countries outside the EU trade with the single market then? What????
Duh. Britain is NOT outside the EU.
So no countries outside the EU trade with the single market then? What????
I was referring to how they pick and choose skills they want, I don't know what's confusing about that, they have all these things that they want: http://www.immigration.ca/en/fast-track-high-demand-occupations.html
So if you meet the criteria you get in much quicker than the normal process. If we are running short of backstreet carwashers the government can respond to that need.
Is that a joke?
Use the visa premium service. You can get them same day. My wife used this before we were married (I went with her to the centre in Croydon). Also people at my work have used this. Book it and get all your paperwork together. You get your visa confirmed (or denied) within an hour or 2 after. If you can't get to the centr then you can also pay for the super premium service where they cost you. It is still 24 hours turn around.
Where have they said they want to have access to the single market? They've said they want a good deal for the UK and want to curb free movement. You seem to be under the impression that we'll just capitulate to the EU, I don't think May is that sort of PM
While the German and French leaders have said the UK's vote to leave must be respected, both are facing re-election next year and under domestic political pressure to drive a hard bargain.
They have suggested no special exceptions can be made for Britain in terms of continued access to the EU's single market if, as Mrs May has insisted, the UK seeks controls on freedom of movement rules.
There's a lot of brexit positivity in tomorrow's papers...
Edit - today's even!!
Positivity and actually wanting something done apart from sitting on our backsides wondering are completely different.
I get where you're coming from, but its more like lets just get on with it rather than its great.
Even as a remainer I'd rather something actually be done rather than whats going on now.
but then theres this which sort of undermines all that

I was listening to a piece on the radio yesterday that said if you are white, low income, with poor education attainment the likelihood is you voted for Brexit. That is exactly the same demographic in the U.S. that are backing Trump for President.
Not only that but it's a similar demographic that are agitating for drastic change across Europe. Surely that should be ringing alarm bells with politicians everywhere.
Rightly or wrongly this demographic feels left behind by society and does not have a share in the wealth of the country they were born in. They feel their whole way of life is under threat from immigration and it's a toxic mix.
I don't pretend to have an answer to this conundrum and I suspect neither do the politicians.
Out of interest what kind of visa was that? If be interested to know as I'm sure it was nothing like a right to remain or long time work visa. Going through the police, background, medical and education checks would take significantly longer than that. It's also out of keeping with most other countries which take months/years for skilled workers. Perhaps that's why they got rid of it?
Theres Being left behind and then there's being lazy. Unfortunately a lot of the lazy have been told by the the sun, daily mail and farage for a long time that their problems stem from immigration and the EU.... and not their own doings and their own government.

Seems a lot of the country like what they are seeing with May and her new team.
