What have you done to your car today?

I have a Sealey jack that looks pretty much identical to this. Stupidly low entry, and it takes very few pumps to get the car up in the air. It's a superb bit of kit, even if I do struggle lifting it out of the garage :o

My jack is 40+ years old and takes many pumps to get the car up, it needs a service. Think its a Bradbury.

God help you if you try to lift it up though! :D

Got my new electro-chromatic auto-dimming rear-view mirror for the M3. Decided to get straight to fitting it as it looked straight forward enough.

Stuck the circuitery on with double sided tape and test fit:

Some tidy soldering:

And voila! Works a treat!

My old one mustn't have been working properly for a while as it only ever ended up having a slightly dimmed browner patch in the middle. This one really does react swiftly and completely evenly from crystal clear to black (hard to show with late evening light conditions). It's a bloody clever concept really..

Yesterday: Gave it a good thrashing round a sprint course / small track, first real use of downshift blipping since the ECUTek map the other week, I've decided it's coming off!

Having a few sessions round Donington next sunday too, but can't get an FRSU done or the downship blipping removed until early August which is disappointing.

Then that'll be it for this one on track I think.. Oil starvation on the long corners worries me and a baffled sump job is £1100+ due to needing a pump conversion too. No point spending that when I'm building a dedicated track car before the year is out.

Also had an unexpected OcUK mini-meet with probably the nicest MX5 I've seen! Any guesses? :p

My wife bought me a private plate (my first ever private plate!!) so had those put on the car, together with a full brake fluid swap after the ring and a wheel balance, all done FOC by Stoke Audi as a thank you for sticking with them over my current problems. Good one them, that's more like I expect when I buy a halo car competing with Porsche, Ferrari etc. Still have the problem of the noise, but we have a plan and they are being fully supportive of my demands so fair play to them. Reasonable them means reasonable me.

Serious stoppers!

I've done the Asda day before, was there a PH thread about it, wouldn't mind taking the R8 along, sure a few shoppers would like a run in it?

I put up a post on PH but I can put you in touch with one of the organisers directly if you want, they're still looking for cars to help out and an R8 is perfect.

It's a private "invite only" day for all the ASDA staff and their families but ASDA is so big we usually get 6K+ people arriving and last we raised almost £60k in under 8hrs!

I did it in 2009 with my RS4 and took loads of people around. I've just written to the organisers and told them I am happy to attend so will see what they come back with. I was due to be in the US but had to cancel that so will be twiddling my thumbs that weekend. If I get nothing back I will come back to you :)

Engine in the r32, but gearbox mounts need done so that's next. They are here but not fitted. Also found that it needs new wheel nuts, so trivial, but so needed!

M3 mirrors. They're manual folding. Fitment on the pivoting point sucks. But at least there's no more broken mirror.

Axeboy - You're really not doing my R32 lust any favours matey! :D

I really need to get some RB26 back into my life at some point but only the Stagea matches my "estate" needs right now and the Autech is silly money and rare.

Ordered a full OEM bushings set, from front axle all the way to the diff. Had to make use of ECP's 25% off code before it expired.

Good to meet you yesterday :)

Enjoyed the time on track, will definitely be up for another day there, new clutch and a fix to the occasional buzzing noise (wheel bearing or caliper I think) and I will feel much happier on track.
