1060/480/390X ?

So due to me trying to rush a purchase i missed out on a cheap Fury Nitro the other day, and the stock and prices of aib cards for both companies currently suck.

So i was looking at other options, like i see a powercolor devil (hybrid cooled) 390X for about 300. Would that be a stupid choice right now given the 480 and 1060s?

I would be missing out on hdmi2 although i do have the club3d adapter for that. It does look like in most things the 390X would be faster, or am i losing my marbles?

What are you talking about, at £300 budget, there is still Fury Nitro in stock....

If you go for the £250 range, RX480 Nitro+ but Fury Nitro is better purchase.
(if you plan to watercool look at the Nano at £329, I have one clocked at 1120/1100 and is a beast)

Get the 4gb 480 Nitro OC+ from Sapphire. Better value than a 1060 and almost identical in performance in DX11 and far better in dx12/vulcan for the future.

Aren't these still available or are you talking about a used one you had seen?

Alternatively if you can bump your budget up a bit this wouldn't be too bad -

But then I would probably want to bump the budget up another little bit and get a 1070 :p.

In the US guys. I would love to buy from OcUK. It just isn't feasible though.

I did order a nitro fury in the US, but retailer cancelled both orders as I ordered, and then saw that paypal had a 25 dollar off offer to make it 275 dollars total. So I called to cancel, then later in the day they had auto-cancelled my second order I actually wanted to keep. At that point they were out of stock.

Anyway... I'll be waiting for the 480 or 1060 when they are back in stock.

Also, I'm not worried about my 7850k, it's a fine CPU thanks, and I'll be upgraded to either Zen or whatever Intel has to offer at that time.

i would go for the rx 480, been a awesome upgrade from my old 270x oc.

should hold its value better than a 1060 in a years time as well thanks to vulcan and dx 12 :)

1060 is only between 3 and 5 percent faster in dx 11 and is about 30 percent slower in doom on vulkan lol

if its only for a year even a 4 gig 480x would be awesome :)

Imo with your CPU the 1060 is the best choice. As much as I like AMD better the driver overhead for their GPUs will impact you negatively while Nvidia's won't.

erm vulkan and dx12 kinda mutes that... and dx11 performance is a mute point since the difference is small and in a years time nvidia drivers will suck when their replacement card comes out... and even more games get developed with dx 12 or vulkan in mind, while even old cards on amd get boosts with new drivers.

<--- drunkenly hugs my undervolted rx 480 reference with custom fan profile, all done in crimson with wattman which is part of the driver software :)
