AMD announce Radeon Pro SSG

Woah. I always like it when companies are willing to try something a little different. Clever idea and looks very nice. I like it!

Cool, little expensive though isn't it :)

It's not out yet. The price at the end of the article is a devkit. You don't buy that if you're an end user, you buy that if you're Maya or Adobe and you want to make sure your products are ready to support it when it's released.

That card will speed up Graphics/Video creation work significantly. The gpu accesses textures and data directly from the onboard SSD's making the huge 8K performance possible.

Great idea. I wonder if it could be applied to gaming cards in the future too. Expandable gpu memory anyone?

Shall I imagine the salt content of the deleted posts or assume it's the usual trash talking.

The demo looked impressive, nice idea to give the card some SSD space of its own.

Doubtless not every process will benefit from it but gigantic video editing doesn't sound bad.

As someone who does a good deal of editing, that is impressive. I dare say it will be a bit out of my price range though :D

This seems to have potential, it's an innovative way in its simplicity, to solve an architectural problem that otherwise seems difficult to get around. I definitely think it could work in consumer level products in the near future.

Interesting idea, I'm sure it will take a while before they get it all sorted out, but it certainly has potential for certain workloads.
