Suicide Squad (2016)

I don't get the hate most people seem to have for BvS, I've only seen the extended version but thought it was fine, MoS on the other hand I thought was rubbish.

I'll definitely see SS but will wait for the disc release and go into it with low expectations hoping to be pleasantly surprised as I was with BvS.

I don't understand the hate between DC and Marvel fans.

Empire has zero credibility after their blatantly paid for Ghostbusters review.

On that subject just saw a piece by a Jef Rouner saying GB16 is not a flop as it's made it production costs back. He gets very upset and blocks you on twitter if you point out Cinema's take some of the ticket and then there's all the advertising. It's long way off breaking even yet.

Personally I dont see that as the case, I just expected DC not to **** away the chance - Marvel showed them the way and it seems DC just ignored it.

Im expecting that superhero universes are gonna get a whole lot slimmer as I think more and more of us are just getting fed up of how many keep coming out that kinda dont deserve the spotlight. Im very much for TV over film though for these things and while Ill probably be shunned Im gutted something like Agent Carter got cancelled...

Who gives a **** what a bunch of dumb critics have to say, especially in this day and age where these people are tapped up by the studios? Why not just watch the movie and make up your own mind?

Tapped up by what studio? Surely the reviews would be positive if that were the case?

If the reviews are 99% bad I'd say that gives a good indicator as to what the film will be like. Plus I like reading reviews. People have really torn into this, including letos supposedly very flawed performance. I'll watch at some point, just not at the cinema.

Because not everyone wants to spend £20 to see something at the cinema if it's just going to be crap and a waste of their money. They'd rather spend it on something more worthwhile like a chocolate teapot.

I didn't like the first few trailers but for some unknown to me reason I'm massively hyped by it now and can't wait to see it :D

I'll be watching this at the weekend, might be getting mostly bad reviews but I find it hard to believe it can be as bad as Independence Day 2.

They didn't ignore it. They just didn't implement it because if they did, then everyone would accuse them of copying Marvel's formula. Personally, I am glad they didn't go down that route. The way DC are doing things is better for them and in the long run, it will pay off. If Marvel had started their MCU in the same manner, I guarantee they would have been praised for it. It just seems like a lot of people just love to bash on DC just for the sake of it. And that is childish as far as I am concerned. You can enjoy both sides without being a complete twerp about it.

+1, well said CK. :)

I just love how somehow we shouldnt expect good films from DC and that magically theyll just get better - then I have to remember CK61938 and the BvS thread, so he might actually believe it...

EDIT: For me the issue is, is if this is how they are attempting to create their foundation then I have very little faith in how theyll build their universe beyond that. Why should I even care for those later films when the first few have been so badly thought out. I do hope DC fans like yourself get that chip off their shoulder when being compared to Marvel, because thats all thats going to happen, Marvel did nothing remarkable but plan to introduce their characters and then weave them together - that isnt some special formula...

Marvel make decent movies for the most part. That's literally all it is. Marvel make better films. I can't see this paying off in the long run, that's two movies they've completely messed up (3 to some people), I've lost faith in their entire universe and am no longer excited for the rest of the lineup.

And the whole thing about DC getting picked on. Just no, that's complete and utter bull. If that were the case every reviewer would be pro marvel because they gave both this and BvS shocking reviews. Rightly so too, have you seen the superman in the movies? Yeah, that's not superman - that's snyderman. If you read the comics you'd see a huge difference.

I wouldn't bother. He actually believes everybody has an agenda against DC, he literally says that in his post.

Thanks. I have been reading Superman comics since I was 13. So I think I do know the difference.

Man of Steel, after the first third of the film was terrible. Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, was a properly, genuinely terrible film. Everything apart from Batman (not including the coma inducing fight at the end) was awful.

I'm not surprised in the slightest that this film is following the trend.

Marvel have a formula, but it goes far beyond that. DC have gotten it wrong, and until they have a radical change, I do not see them bucking the trend. Shame, because Batman is my favourite 'super' hero and in my opinion one of the most interesting characters.

See for me, a massive batman and superman fan, having enjoyed aspects from lots of different (film and tv) versions over the years, the portrayal in DoJ was the best yet, for both main characters, and was the most faithful for how i have seen them in the comics over the years.

Weird that you say that as Im in the middle of BvS (just at the fight  - had to pause it and walk away) and about a third in (before the dream sequence) its actually pretty good with a lot of potential and then, my, it tumbles...

I love DC, I don't mind marvel but I really love DC, despite that this current crop films suck, which is a huge shame.

Personally I blame Snyder, he's destroyed Superman (though DC new 52 done a good hatchet job on him as well by minimising his human side) he's somehow stuffed up an easy crossover and been exec producer on a film which should have been a relatively easy win again.

I have heard rumours he's been/being sidelined which can only be a good thing. He's just a puerile comic nerd who really can't seem to associate main stream with the comic world. I love a bit of comic book T&A but it is ancillary eye candy to good stories, Snyder seems to think the T&A, rubbish banter (which does work in some comics but doesn't translate well to big screen unless it is a focus of the character ie. Deadpool) and flashes and bangs are what people want. I like that in comics but it does not translate well to the big screen despite exciting a few die hards and getting them to cream their pants along with Snyder.

I wouldn't be hugely averse to them scraping it and starting it again without Snyder as I think they will have a real hard time trying to salvage the mess he has made with his opening 2 (now possibly 3) films.

All the hate above comes from a huge DC fan as well so don't give me any "hater" BS back.
