Russell Square stabbings: Man arrested on suspicion of murder

RIP :(

It's hardly a stretch for people to jump to conclusions in instances like this, what with what's been going on in Europe recently.

RIP :( Sounds like the Police handled it really well, which is nice to see - Could have been worse I'm sure.

No.

I have had some truly horrific run ins with muslims ...

Me too, but I've also met a lot of really nice, decent people who are Muslims so I'm not going to tar there entire religion with that brush. There's definitely a massive problem in some Muslim communities though and for decades now no-one has been prepared to talk about it or do anything. That must change

They may well be a Muslim but considering what happened and the history of the area in treating mental health patients (who have then had their care removed) it would in all likelihood be not the actual driving reason.

Hopefully, people will have the sense to realise that if that is proven to be the case.

Plenty of the posters we are talking about have just spent the last couple of years shouting 'Apologist' and 'Sympathiser' to anyone who brought up mental health issues over incidents.

I'm sure it's one of the tick boxes in the 'Lefty Apologist Bingo' meme

So no, I don't have your faith that people have the sense to realise :p

My best friend in school growing up was Turkish muslim, Got along great, Like peas in a pod.

But then his family started having a huge affect on his life and started with the brain washing about religion and what he should and shouldn't do and being friends with a kuffar was not acceptable.

That was when my eyes were opened and I started to learn more and more about it.

I don't hate people, I hate the fact that ideologies can have such a negative impact on people and change them into something they're not.

Maybe the solution to the mental health crisis is to get some police officers to cross train as psychiatrists. My understanding is that it takes the NHS months to diagnose most mental illnesses yet the Met have been able to do it within a few hours of this attack.

I find it odd that the mods have put into motion sharia law on the forums *part of sharia law entails that one cannot talk about islam if it's not in a positive light* so you can't be critical of a certain ideology yet people are fully allowed to be critical of everything else in the world including Christianity, Judaism etc....

Should a forum not be neutral when it comes to ALL religions and not favour 1 of the other ?

That's worse than a reactionary red top headline. Who said you can't be critical?

All you have to do is do it in a respectful fashion.

Should have shot him, waste of money trying to put him through the mental health system etc.

Also, virtually guaranteed that it's a Muslim by the way the it's being hidden in the media.

lol?

The MET have directly said that mental health appears to be factor in the attack..

And why the hell would the media attempt to hide their biggest moneymaking news topic?

Why am I even bothering to write this.

By definition every terrorist attack, religious or otherwise, is a mental health issue. Only the motives differ.

I predict that this thread will get locked sooner rather than later! Probably before we actually get details of the attacker and their crazy's.

No one has said anything like that in any threads, if they did they'd get banned. People like you just read a debate where people suggest sensible measures such as proper border controls and limiting free movement and then you scream racism and that pathetic word all the lefties love "xenophobia"

"People like me"? Really? Thanks for your pigeonhole, but you can keep it. I'm so far from the lefty line it's pretty much a dot, but I have no need to jump to stupid conclusions whenever we have absolutely zero information.

Posts like this really annoy me. I don't know what's wrong with people who still defend our open door policy after everything that's happened. The old cliché of anything to do with immigrants then you're a racist is getting boring now. **Snip**.
Ignore the race card for once please, and look at what you quoted:

prejudiced

So, it not prejudiced to think that all immigrants who come in to the country want to kill everyone?

Are all Met Plod now trained psychologists?

You don't need to have a medical degree to know that someone is acutely mentally unwell.

Should have shot him, waste of money trying to put him through the mental health system etc.

Mental health is an illness, just like any other - one that a lot of people suffer at some stage in their life.

Your comments are ignorant, small minded and dangerous to the millions of people who suffer MH issues.

Met police are simply being politically correct i.e intellectually dishonest.

Or perhaps it was just a MH issue? That's much more likely than Islamic extreamism, despite what the Daily Mail would have you believe.

I thought that terrorism was politically, or ideologically motivated - like the 9/11 attacks, it took years of planning, lots of money and organisation to carry out - the motive was that their political and ideological ideas were different than that of the west, not mental illness?

Unless you class anybody who performs a serious crime (mass murder) as being mentally ill in some form or another, which I think is a slippery slope.
