What have you done to your car today?

Good effort on the wheels, but given the time/effort involved it's got to be more economical to have a firm refurb them.

Not really, if I had a firm do it I either have to pay for a courier or drop them off myself so I'd lose an hour or two here anyway or have to pay god knows what price for postage, plus I had a strict deadline to have them back on the car is I had a wedding to go to this weekend in Cambridge and our other car uses far more fuel than the Mondeo.

Going rate seems to be £50 - £65 per wheel with tyres so a middle ground figure is £230, i'd still have to pay £24 for the centre caps and another £20 for the new nuts so that's £274 ish and I got a box of latex gloves out of that £80 too which i'll use for doing other stuff car related, you could probably do it for £40 if you wanted & didn't need new nuts & caps

Apart from the sanding and polishing the actual painting only had me in the garage for about 5 minutes at a time laying down coats so in actual man hours about 7 hours or so went into them.

Plus the satisfaction is worth it :)

You can get 95% as good a finish just by sanding, priming, painting and replacing centre caps. I did mine in a few hours (involved an entire colour change as well) and they still look great.

Mine had a lot of corrosion so needed filling, some of the bubbled areas were 50p sized & left small craters plus the previous owner had kerbed them to within an inch of their life.

Could have just had them powder coated.
£20 a wheel in brum

Front balljoints, drop links, lower engine mount and rear dampers on the C3.

Good job I had the impact gun as the rear sus bolts were big, took a fair bit of force.

I'm sure that'd be a quality job.

It's absolutely fine.

Wheels look brand new and they even sorted the bit of curbing.

Yes there is some very min or powder bubble on the inside of two but that's never normally painted by refurbished places so I don't care.

City powder coaters do around 50 alloys per day from what they told me.

Is that £20/wheel price a deal or can anyone get that pricing?

I've got a 2nd set of wheels for my A4 that I was using for winter tyres that look a bit rough. Was going to just eBay them as-is, but at £20 per wheel I might just get them done before advertising them, I reckon I'd actually get more interest/bids if they were immaculate, so it should pay for itself.

£20 per wheel 18" and below.

£5 to remove tyes and £5 to refit Inc balance.

Special colours are £10 extra per wheel. (Sparkle for example).

They will sand blast, remove any curb rash and powder coat with a layer of powder laquer.

Went through MOT again, no issues. Saw the milage history and it's done less than 5k in the last 10 years! Confirmed through all the paperwork I have.... ridiculous!

I remember when I hit 123456 in the Polo, I pulled over and took a picture. :D

I wish I'd planned it so that the trip read 789.0 though... :(

Gave the Mazda a new Bosch battery and a min service, new air filter, oil filter, oil and fuel filter.

Engine feels a bit smoother, probably placebo effect mind

I've got 80085 coming up tomorrow or the day after. I'll definitely be stopping for that
