I never leave the house without my Driving License - Used for age/ID verification mostly.

I was also surprised to hear in the other thread that some people don't carry it on them...

This. Since every time something crops up where you need id as proof of address etc, the driving licence card suffices

Last time I carried my license on me was over 20 years ago have not need it.
It is no use for ID as its still the paper one before the photo ones replace them.
I don't have any photo ID at all as I don't have a Pass port.

Mine is always in my wallet in case I need it for ID purposes. The paper bit stays in my car.

No. If you lose your wallet, with license inside, and your bank cards, then whoever picks it up has all the info they need to steal your monies. Plus I'm nearly 30 and don't ever get ID'd.

Do you still need the counterpart these days? I couldn't find mine even if my life depended on it.

I have no idea but it doesn't cost me anything to keep it in the car or take up any significant space so I keep it there with my other documents (insurance, MOT certificate etc.).

I didn't used to but got stopped and asked to show my license the next day at the local police station which was a pain in the ass, I always keep it on me now.

Yes. It's used occasionally to prove ID when going to the bank or anywhere else which requires proof.

I don't carry it very often. Only when I know I'm going to buy alcohol as I'm regularly IDed despite being more than old enough.

Yes.
People don't just get ID'd for buying alcohol and cigarettes - it's often needed at banks, Post Offices, collecting parcels from couriers etc.

Currently ~85% to ~15% split in favour of carrying ID. Bit surprised at that given the hysterical over-reaction to the prospect of national ID cards on this forum a few years back. On the back of that reaction I thought most GD posters would want to be incognito at all times.

I still occasionally get IDed when buying alcohol, I'm in my mid-thirties. For this reason I keep my driver's licence in my wallet.

indeed, i dont see the problem of carrying some form of photographic ID

Yep always in my wallet - forget it's there half the time, but just in case i get id'd for something - even though it's not been out for a few years.
