No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

5 hours straight

changed fov to 120 read me only graphics on ultra 4x smaa whatever it is and its smooth as **** me at 3440x1440 gsync getting 75-100 fps on a 1080.. no juddering at all..

still havent left first planet but foudn 6-7 crashed ships and few pods..

my first planet is nice and green and lush then it suddenly goes dark orange its insane i love the engine..

feeding animals is cool too they can dig up gifts etc!

If you start again; can you get the downloadable content again?

Played for a couple of hours, jumped to hyperspace twice, had nothing but wasteland :(.

It's not running proper 21:9... something is definitely off. FOV only goes up to 100 which isn't enough, but it feels stretched.

Are we stuck with these graphics forever then? Any chance of updates improving this? I agree rather pathetic for a AAA game. I'm enjoying it, but still, feels like I'm playing a PS4 game. :(

HelloGames is an 11 man team? This is absolutely not a triple A title.

Started the game tonight and hit up my first "off world" planet, finishing my evening on an Icy Moon, really not sure if its the kind of game I'll play for a long time, buts its a nice change of pace to a lot of other stuff I play, although I do wish I had a PS4, my 560ti just cries through this game, fans are louder than the game itself, having to play in 720p on low/med detail and it looks worse for me than those who are complaining about the graphics!

Will see how this goes!

I think it is a game with a lot of potential, and a nice 'chill' game. Enjoyable on PC, but much more enjoyable (in my opinion) with a controller, and on a television :).

It's just nice to bumble about in space, land on planets, find animals that look like giant walking testicles, wander about in some beautiful scenery. It has a nice vibe to the game.

Hopefully: the updates are regular and can help turn this potential in to brilliance :).

Played this for abit today, don't really understand the fuss behind it. Not my type of game, glad I didnt buy it. Would end up on my pile of shame for sure.

Agreed, it is a chill out game. The sort of game you play on a Sunday afternoon or after you put the kids to bed.

Got it working, bloody shader cache was the problem, so turned it off and stuttering disappeared then tinkered til i could get smoothish frames (disregarding land generation drops).

I was considering this but the price put me off and reviews are bad so will wait and see how it develops and if it improves it will be cheaper as well.

From what I have seen so far, exactly what I wanted. Could do with a bit of polish here and there, but it sounds like they will continue to work on it.

I wouldn't want multiplayer in this.

Every world I go to has the wow factor in some way. It must be one hell of an equation that generates all of this.

I am going to lose many an hour to this!

What gets me most are the sounds and atmosphere, I wasn't expecting that aspect to be so good. The loneliness of some planets really does have an impact on me.

Is it what you wanted?

It is indeed :) will probably blast a few more hours on it again today then play a bit Deus Ex in time for the sequel coming out later in the month.

I read quite a few reviews on Steam and the game is getting absolutely slaughtered. Is it really that bad?

I'd ignore steam. It's like metacritic all over again. Trolls / fanbois having a go.

Played for 4 hours, no issues apart from the alt-tab crash.

I followed the nvidia recommended settings, everything on high/ultra, v-sync off, anti-aliasing set to FXAA, Gamma 120, Anistropic filtering 16, and FOV at 100 for on=foot and flight.

I didn't notice any significant frame rate drops, stuttering or any other issues that others are reporting. In fact, the four hours went by in an instant.

My starting planet was a red, radioactive one with quite a bit of flora and some fauna, not a lot of zinc though so was a challenge to keep the suit's radioactivity protection up. Plenty of plutonium though so once I had the ship up and running I used it to explore and move from place to place, filling up on plutonium as I go. I'm still on my starting planet, trying to identify everything on it - 90% there.

Had a blast just exploring, getting sidetracked looking at something else, learning words etc. One thing I need to perfect is my parking. Screenshot below, I parked on top of a tall plant and had some difficulty getting back into the ship...

Can't wait to get back to my planet (Ivarstead after my favourite little village in Skyrim, my steam name is Iain of Ivarstead and there's more screenshots on Steam.

I feel for those who can't play it, I made sure everything was up to date (specs below) and it has largely been a flawless launch for me. I'll probably expand the FOV to 140 in the files but other than that, I'm very happy.

Cheers

I like the game. The pop in is annoying but thats my real only gripe with it. Most people gave it a bad review because they didn't know you had to hold a button to get past the white screen at the start. Also it seems that anyone who cant run the game is using a cpu which doesn't support SSE 4.1 lol...
I had to mess with the settings to get over 30fps like everyone as the game locks to 30fps standard.
I'm getting around 120 fps on my 1070 although I have noticed fps drops but its not dropping past 80fps so its not effecting my enjoyment.

The game isn't a AAA title and if I'm honest I don't feel its worth the £40 price tag but then again not many so called AAA titles are these days.

Some more firsts for me:
