Hi,
Looking for some advice please on a recently purchased air conditioning unit (less than 1 month) which has stopped working and broken internally.
More after advice on how to deal with the company rather than the unit itself as I believe they should fix or replace it but they seem to be trying to get out of it.
It is a vented air conditioning unit, and they provide a window kit which is only suitable for sash / sliding windows.
We don't have a sliding window, so replaced the window with a sheet of wood (commercial property) and bought an angled vent (downwards) with a flap on it that only allows air OUT. Will post pictures when I have a better connection. (edit... Pics now at bottom of post in a link)
They requested pictures of the setup. They are claiming that the type of vent we've used (because of the flap) has caused the issue and "back pressure has pushed the fan out of alignment".
This doesn't seem the case because the fan can be seen and appears to have two or three physically smashed blades that can be seen inside from the back sitting at the bottom of the unit and heard rattling. And the vent isnt (I don't believe) restricting the unit in any way at all as the flap moves VERY freely as soon as the air con is on.
The vent was in the closed position as per the pics I will shortly upload, so they want a picture of it open... Pretty obvious and petty I think because you can clearly see in your head where the flap will open up to. Common sense.
But anyway, after I send this picture if they still refuse what can I do? It is under warranty for 1 year but obviously they appear to be refusing. The unit is over £500 in value and less than 1 month old. Unfortunately did not pay on a credit card (if that would make a difference for a faulty item)
Hope someone has some advice, as the companies explanation / claims seem like they're just trying to get out of sorting it out.
Thanks!
Edit: Note that they only had the first two pictures at first. I've now sent the third.
