No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

Mack has zero credibility as far as I'm concerned!

You have to hand it to him though, he has managed to do three No Man's Sky videos on his WAB channel. An initial clickbait "this is not a review" video before the game even came out, moaning about not getting a review copy. The mid one was an intermediate clickbait after playing the game for just 5 hours, and this third, and probably not final, clickbait was after playing for 10 hours. Then add the couple of stream videos he's done on his other channels which pretty much covers the actual playtime he did to make his second WAB "review". Clever, if not an actual reviewer of credible integrity type strategy, assuming you don't just adblock him.

Do different ships handle differently then? or is it just a skin pretty much?

Still on the fence about this, love space games, and these and has intrigued me for ages, but the negatives + high price is putting me off atm.

It's just a skin.

For me the flight aspect of the game ruins it. There is no native flight stick support & the game prevents you from doing any low level flying, you hit a glass wall when getting too low & are unable to fly amongst the terrain.

Did you ever think it was going to be a flight sim? I can understand what you mean to a degree but expecting full on flight stick controls and stuff is a bit far considering what this game is and was always meant to be.

Anyone else upgrading their Ship (as in getting a better one) by just finding other crashed ships and swapping out?

It's fun! :)

No, not at all. I wasn't expecting Newtonian flight modelling or anything like that, but having the option to use a trottle & stick for the controls that are already ingame shouldn't have been left out. Plenty of PC gamers don't use controllers & would prefer to use a flight stick & for me was a bit of a game killer enjoyment wise.

I've only found 2 ships so far and neither of them was any real upgrade.

While we're on the subject of changing ships is there any way to extract fuel? I got to the point that my omega ship didn't carry enough but i had a fully fuelled hyper drive. So instead of just buying another ship i kept warping to use all my fuel before i brought a new ship.

From what I've read / found in game:

The crashed ships will only ever be 1 or 2 slots better / worse than your existing ship.

The best thing to do is find crashed ships and deconstruct all the tech in them and save the materials.

Ok fair enough :). I personally would like the ability to completely stop and just survey in the ship. That way I can try and spot things a bit easier.

Yeah you'd think that a VTOL spacecraft would have the ability to hover, I'd also like to be able fly in & around the terrain. Sounds like I'm unduly whining but things you'd think would be standard for a PC version of a game, regardless of it being a console port have been left out.
I did search beforehand to see if stick control was ingame but couldn't find anything to say it wasn't & there was no mention of the low level flying restriction either.

My sweet new ride.

They were pretty secretive when it came to this game and while I am enjoying the game, I wouldn't have blamed someone if they were under the impression that it was a PS4 only game up until launch. They talked like it was the only version and gave little to no details regarding PC in any way.

Yeah this is my experience, so far I have found 8 crashed ships spread over 3 planets and out of those 8 I have swapped out 3 times for a ship with an extra 1 or 2 slots.

Its slow doing this but I find it fun as I don't really do a lot of mining (more exploring) so don't ever make that many units.

Think I might switch out now to mining and making some cash to get the next one though. :)

Like I say I'm not whining unduly, but the flight part of the game was what I was looking forward to the most.

I've read multiple threads on the Steam suggestions sub-forum requesting they improve the flight model & add support for other controllers. Whether they read & implement them or not I don't know, wouldn'tve thought so with all the bile spewed out on there post release.

Still expanding my exo suit, the thing is huge now! Haven't even made it to the atlas waypoint, discovering every planet and every species on the way. I have the hang of finding each species now...still a pain on hostile planets though.
