No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

Does anyone know if you have a +1 upgrade for a specific item attribute (weapon cooling, mining intensity etc), and you then get the +2 upgrade for that same attribute, can you get rid of the +1? I presume they don't stack and the higher level one replaces the lower level?

They stack. You also get a bonus if you have similar upgrades positioned next to each other, you see a glow around the group of upgrades.

There is clearly something not right with this game... my FPS ranges from a maxed out steady 100FPS on my X34 to steady 60FPS... it rarely goes below that, but it seems to pick a frame rate and stick there for a while, then move on to another. I've never known a game do that before. I have a GTX 1080 and 5820K.

Sounds a bit like V-Sync behaviour. That said I'm getting similar it seems to alternate between sitting at about 80fps or suddenly fluctuating between 25 and 80fps and stuttery.

So in the same category they stack? i.e a mining intensity +1 and a mining intensity +2 equal more than just a +2 on its own? It's a bit (actually incredibly) stupid if it goes on position considering you can't move them once you've allotted it a space!!

So to clarify, for example, if you have the Beam Intensifier Theta, you get a bump by also having the lower level Sigma, as opposed to just have the Theta alone?

Started it up today and the juddering/stuttering is twice as bad as playing it yesterday :| pretty much makes it unplayable - can't even spin in a circle without it hitch for half a second to a second 3 times in 360 degrees.

EDIT: Just seen there is a NMS release driver 372.54 pushed out - gonna try that.

Gamers Nexus thoughts on the issues....

Yep, upgrades stack.

Anything of the same upgrade type (same icon) gets a bonus if it's adjacent to another upgrade of the same type.

Pay attention to those ship slot layouts ;)

I installed the CA/Vignetting/Scan Lines Removal mod...noticeable that the black lines are gone, no hit to performance or anything else I can see (yes, still on 1st planet...I'm milking it for all it's worth).

A 32 slot ship came into the trading base, Gek wanted 5.5mil for it. I'm up to 3 mil :D

Cheers,

20MB patch just pushed - not sure if its just experimental branch or retail.

EDIT: Hasn't resolved stuttering but no longer getting the 0.5-1 second pauses all the time so far - not tried it very long to see if its removed those entirely.

Not sure what the actually bonus is, but this is the grouping on my current MultiTool

Each category has a different colour - mining beam, scanner, boltgun thing

I agree, it's a pita not to be able to move them, but spend a few resources and delete and rebuild is what i did.
