Liverpool won't recoup £32m, they greatly overpaid for Benteke and now want other teams too. They should have accepted Palaces original offer, now he'll rot in reserves whilst paying his wages and have to sell him for <£15m next summer.

They'll get close to 30mil for him and frankly in a market where Bolasie is 25mil its about right.

he will need to be playing first team football if he wants to be englands no.1.
forster looks like a good keeper and butland may be back from his injury soon too.

joe hart - nice to see him fighting for his place

Never thought he was that good but he came in at a time when we were struggling for GKs, now he has a bit of competition at international level and a manager who doesn't seem to rate him he's folded like a cheap suit, ironically Sterling seems to have started half decently after a equally shocking Euros

Only Palace are genuinely interested at £25m+, they'll end up looking elsewhere for someone who has more qualities. Liverpool want £32m which they won't get. Bony seems to be out of favour and he'll be cheaper. If they tried they could get Nasri and Bony for £32m.

Thry can definitely afford Nasri and im sure he would jump at thag opportunity.

Benteke is younger and better then Bony. He has a one in two record before he joined Liverpool and still got 1 in 3 for us and we used him horribly.

Look elsewhere then, good luck getting a 1 in 2 striker at 25 for any less.

There are blatant holes in the squad, but hopefully IF Darmian and Rojo go (I personally wouldnt get rid of Darmian but looks like its highly possible he will go) and at least get a CB in if not a RB also, Fabinho is keen to leave Monaco by all reports

Edit - I also read somewhere that Monaco were keen to keep him until the CL qualifiers were dealt with but not sure if any deal is being worked on.

DM, left wing, No 10 are all current holes (this is allowing Martial to become the central striker he really is) or both wings if Mkhitaryan is the No 10 for the coming summers (hopefully at least one position can be dealt with from the accadany)

I would be surprised if Nasri wasnt on insane wages at City, which might make any other EPL team doing a deal a little more difficult than City wanting their transfer money "back".

Even with the new TV deal I would be suprised if any of the lower teams would be able to (or want to) match top four wages from the last few years. Also not sure Nasri would "jump " at the opportunity, rather than sit on the bench doing ****** earning megabucks

Apparently Southampton want Rojo as part of the Fonte deal.

Another useless waste of drive down to south coast myself.

laughs - are you sure its that way round?

Im sure Utd are trying to get rid of him in part exchange, but I would be surprised if Southampton actually wanted him :D

Is he really though? His best performances for us have been on the wing, he plays on the wing for France and he played on the wings and centre forward for Monaco not just CF.

Zlatan is here for 2 years and Rashford will be the second choice striker. Martial is there to stay on the left wing, a position that has him, Depay, Rashford and currently also Young to cover. I wouldn't say it's a weak spot. I'd be more concerned with the right wing which really only has Lingard as cover, Rashford also but he hasn't looked great over on that side for the most part.

According to members on here Liverpool should have accepted Chelsea's opening offer of £35m for Torres because nobody would offer more, we should have accepted Arsenal's opening offer of £35m for Suarez because that was fair and iirc it was the same story when City initially offered £35-40m for Sterling too.

Palace won't go elsewhere because they tried that already and got turned down. They know the fee and even after this offer was rejected it's reported that they're still negotiating with Liverpool. They're desperate for a striker and they know that if they get Benteke he'll practically guarantee survival for them. He's going to end up at Palace but it would be madness for Liverpool not to push Palace as hard as they can to get every penny out of them.

And it's reported that West Brom want him too.

Has he really been given many chances at Utd at CF (given his age), he certainly wasnt given much time on the pitch in the Euros for France (anywhere)

Baring in mind that Depay was a disaster for most of last season, Utd needed someone with pace on that side, and so it suited LvG to put him there.
Cant see Young getting any playing time at all unless there are major injuries ahead of him. He has 2 seasons left on his contract, but hopefully we will sell him for relative peanuts before the window closes, if reports are to believed we are certainly trying.

Maybe Martial will do the opposite of Henry and become a winger after originating as a CF, he has the pace and trickery but at the moment it just looks to me as though he would be better centrally. Rashford may occasionally play on the wing but Im sure he will end up as a CF for majority of his career.

Zlatan is on a short term deal (even if he is already suggesting he can perform for another 3-4 years), lets see how he does over a full season before tying him down long term :D. Either way both Martial and Rashford hopefully have 10 years ahead of them at the club, and even if both become CF, we will still need a 3rd at the very least within 2 seasons or so.

It's not just Zlatan that's suggesting he could play longer Mourinho has been hinting that he's here for 2 years on MUTV too. Even if he was here for only a year it's this season in question so irrelevant. Edit - didn't notice the "coming summers" part.

My point is that Martial isn't going to play CF unless both Zlatan and Rashford get injured and even then from the way Jose has been talking he'd be more likely to play Rooney there in that scenario. Also whether you think players are good enough or not doesn't really change that the left wing has 3 players other than Martial for cover and the right wing really only has Lingard, unless of course you are happy with Mata playing out there again :p
