Loving this game!

Anyone care to share their favourite heroes to play, and why?

I've played mostly D.Va (probably about 80% of my played time), but looking for some other fun heroes to experiment with!

Zarya is my favourite, because you can tank, you can save your team mates from getting killed with a well timed barrier and the ultimate pairs up with nearly every other ult in the game to wipe out teams.

Zarya really appeals to me (I must like tanks). However, I gave her a go last night for a couple of games, and I was completely crap! I think I was probably too focused on barriers, and didn't think about movement much, as I was getting repeatedly mowed down and barely killing anyone. Didn't help that we didn't have any healers... More practice required, I think! Any tips for me?

Zarya's DPS is pants until charged up (I hear people suggest ~70+ for good damage), so although it's a good tip for all heroes, "don't die" is her main thing. If you die, you don't just lose the 30 secs to run back, but the 2-3 minutes of charge building you've been doing.

Her main beam cuts right through shields I believe (including Rein and D.Va), which is worth knowing.

She can rocket-jump slightly with her alt fire, which can also be used to move enemies.

I am TERRIBLE with her. she's next on my list to work on, after Mei, (then Genji, Hanzo... all the others...)

I mostly play Reaper in competitive because I've found he's the easiest to carry with. If you have good enough aim you just kill everyone.

In quick play I mostly play Mccree to practise aim.

I find reaper quite hard to use. Specifically, I often find I'm close to someone, aiming center-of-face, I fire and get no hit marker. Makes me wonder if something's up with my settings (I generally get a ping of ~16, so I'm not lagging a lot).

The more likely explanation is I'm rubbish, but I'm leaving that one on the back burner while I look for straws to grasp at.

In the Reaper is good camp.

Been playing loads of Symmetra recently too as I find that in solo que if you have 2 unorganized teams (which is almost always) keeping a teleporter up is the best way to influence the game.

Any tips of getting ult built quickly on Symmetra? I haven't mastered placing turrets yet so they survive more than 30 seconds.

be sneaky with the turrets. Place them in flanking rooms when defending. Place them on the ceiling or hide them as much as possible. Also group them up in 3's helps to get kills.

Also I tend to play very sneaky then get in close to the enemy. She does a lot of damage with her laser thing.

Only barrier when you think someone is about to get damaged, it's hard to learn but you don't want to waste a barrier and not get any charge from it. If the enemy had a roadhog save your barrier if possible for when your team mate gets hooked. Zaryas left click goes through DVAs defense matrix and Genjis deflect. Right click faster targets as they're quite hard to hit with left click. Only ult when your team mates have it available, always call out your ult status and get them to do the same. A barrier only lasts for a couple of seconds or until a certain amount of damage had been done, a fully destroyed barrier from damage will give you 50 charge. Throw yourself into ults if you can get free charge from it, got example hanzo dragons, barrier yourself and stand in it at the edge until your charge of +50 then run out of it again. Barrier will block all damage from 1 shot ultimates, so don't run away from a dva ult, just barrier yourself for 50 free charge instead. Remember you're only an off tank, you won't be able to tank like a Reinhardt. If you barrier a Reinhardt with his shield up when his shield is shot it will give you charge. Don't barrier characters who mitigate all damage, barrier on a dva when she uses defense matrix will give you nothing.

I need to try reaper again in quick play but he's my 2nd least used player after widowmaker...just don't get on with him.

Really putting some time into Ana, she's a great off healer but limited as the sole healer. The trouble with the way the hit's work on friendlies (where you just need the blue triangle on them rather than the crosshair for enemy) is when they are bunched up it's hard to hit your intended target. The grenade can suffer from a large hit box too, so many times I thrown over a friendly to hit the ones further away and it cracks open in thin air above them.

Her alt with Reinhart is excellent for clearing an area though!
