Vsync is turned off in that video for some reason. Which brings us neatly back to... who plans to hook up their 480 to a Freesync monitor? Could be a deal breaker for some. (Funny how these arguments go round and round in circles isn't it?)![]()
Look at the opening panning shot in the Digital Foundry comparison, the RX 480 has lots of stuttering. A good place to watch is the top left, as the lanterns and neon signs pan across.
All I see is the FPS counter constantly higher in the 480 side...
Videos of this kind have been known to make NVidia fans observe stuttering on the AMD side of the screen, but careful analysis has revealed this to be some sort of psychological response...

Perhaps take your eyes off the FPS counter then
I'm no fan of either camp, I'm trying to decide between the two and just pointing out my observations.
To be fair, I think it would be better to use a more stable game that has been around for at least a few months, rather than a fresh release. Deus Ex clearly has all manner of issues which need addressing and could be clouding the comparison.
that's not the fps counter..thats the amount of Fanboys Per Second that think the 480 will beat a 1080 in 5 years time when it kicks in
(just a joke guys incase of triggering)
This is not true. All these mystics predicting the 480 lasting for 100 years sure are impressive, can you tell us the lottery numbers whilst you're at it?
Something no one has yet mentioned is that the 1060 promised 980 performance, which it achieves for the most part. The 480 also promised this, which was essentially a complete lie - a 390 beats in in most games!
This is not true.
While the 1060 certainly does hit the stated performance Nvidia claimed pre-release(as did the 1070, and both of which many people rejected and said would never happen and was only 'best case scenario'), the 480 was never claimed to be as fast a 980. Nor is the 390 faster in 'most' games at all. Quite the opposite.
I personally find the 480 quite disappointing performance-wise, but because it cant match or beat a 390X. Compared to a 390, it is definitely better in most cases, if only just in a lot of them.
Ah right, I'd forgotten about that.During the company's livestream event at the Computex 2016 in Taipei, AMD revealed their first Polaris video card. The Radeon RX 480 is claimed to have the performance of today's $500 video cards for just more than half of the price, PCWorld has learned.

I wonder which $500 cards they meant if not the 980.
Ah right, I'd forgotten about that.
My bad.
Yea, that was BS.
AMD products in general tend to be way overhyped, either by AMD themselves or by fans.
Which is interesting because people tend to consistently downplay expectations for Nvidia products.
yea a lot of people conveniently forget about all the hype that was promised at that livestream event..always better to undersell and overdeliver.
