What film did you watch last night?

I watched Empire Strikes Back with the 7 year old the other day. She liked it, on the whole. It held interest a lot better than Jedi, which we watched today. Jedi is terrible compared to episodes 4 and 5.

I've just come home to find the Mrs watching phantom menace. God only knows why.

Suicide Squad 5/10

Watchable but thought the speech of some of the characters was hard to catch what they where saying , missus thought the same and kept asking what did they just say.

Nerve 4/10

Social media driven bs. Cliché doesn't sum this one up. Teenagers film. Completely unforgettable and face palming cringe. All the teenagers are played by nearly 30 something's.....
Urgh it'd just horrid

Bad Moms

A really really really good movie!!! What can I say? Before today I had no expectations, saw the trailer last week and thought it was meh but today I heard Kermode's review and it was a positive one and thought, what the hell, I'll check it out.

Loved every minute of it, it has laughs all the way through from beginning to end. There were physical comedy, there were sex jokes, mild gross out comedy but not OTT like the poo scene in bridesmaids, it even have room to squeeze in just the right amount of sentimentality. It is just a great film to spend 90mins.

8/10 (but I would give it 9/10 for enjoyment). I might go back and watch it again...I like it that much.

Plus the credit roll is clever.

Prisoners 8/10

Really enjoyed this, the tension and gaps in-between the tense bits was just right. Excellent acting from both Hugh Jackman and Jake Gillenhallalalalall - shame you don't see him in more stuff these days.

Long film at 2hrs 30...but it didn't feel long. You didn't get bored at any point. It sets the story very quickly. Well worth a watch!

Brilliant film - brutal and intense in parts. I thought Jake Gyllenhal was fantastic. Seemed like a film that kind of slipped under the media radar though.

Night of the Living Deb (2015) - 4/10

An average comedy zombie film which has a few funny moments and is entertaining in a ‘passes the time’ way.

The story is predictable, the characters and their acting passable, but the sheer lack of originality and no horror* make it boring at times. Ending felt too abrupt.

*Ironic, as I watched it on the "Horror" channel

Mechanic: Resurrection (2016) - 3/10

A very run of the mill action film with barely any story.

The action scenes vary from old-school Bond to modern Mission: Impossible in their scale and delivery, but lack either of their charm or big budget effects.

All of the characters are stereotypical and bland, the cameos are wasted, and you struggle to care how it all turns out in its very conventional ending.

Overall, a completely unnecessary film, and weak sequel to a mediocre film.

Duel

Currently watching it on horror channel and starts on the +1 at 7.40.
Spielberg's first film and probably the first Road rage film.
Seen it a few times and gets a very solid 7/10

Only reason I'd heard of it was due to IMDB saying "you may be interested in this" - I had no idea it existed otherwise!

Sidenote, last night I watched The Jungle Book - 7/10 IMO

The film, was visually incredible. The story was great and it is a film for all ages...I loved every single bit about it...except Mogli.

The fact that he is effective a feral child yet has this completely spoilt brat attitude just ruined it for me. Didn't feel like he was really involved in the film. All the other characters with their accompanied voices were exceptional though. I couldn't stop laughing at Baloo and Idris Elba is one of my favourite actors so it was great to hear him.

Great otherwise!

A Hologram For The King - 7/10

I was enjoying the general pace and story then it ended...just ended. Still enjoyable to watch, Tom Hanks good as usual.

I was throughly bored...

one of the men gets shot in the belly in one scene and in the next he's fine

You might want to watch it again. :D

His dad got shot in the right shoulder, Lucas got shot in the chest and the guy with the shotgun took one in the stomach.

You've pretty much nailed it so i'll quote with a +1 :D

I was naturally assuming outtakes for the credits, what they did was far better. I expect there would be a ton of outtakes for this, so many parts where you can tell they're just reeling off lines off the top of their head.

Saw bad moms too. And review exactly as above.
Very funny nonstop.
Strangely the best, if unexpected, movie of the summer tbh.
