RIP Gene Wilder :-(

2016 has had some deaths but this one has really got me. Part of my childhood as Willy Wonka and then as I grew older continued to brighten my life up with films like Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein and the classics with Pryor, particularly Stir Crazy.

People can say that he did OK living till 83, but it still doesn't make it any less sad. His work appeals to many generations as well. My brother watched Stir Crazy at the age of 15 in 2008 and said it was the funniest thing he's ever seen.

RIP Gene :(

Haven't seen Stir Crazy in years.. shame that it isn't on Amazon Prime or Netflix :(

Long live the Waco Kid, a class actor who managed to carry off some quirky roles with style..

RIP - Another one gone...

He has a small but very enjoyable role in Bonnie and Clyde (1967) which I watched last week and remembered how much I liked him.

These last couple of years 2014-16 have certainly taken a lot of celebs away from us.

Was thinking about this today, the celebs who have gone over the last 36 months. It feels to me like the current set of celebs just dont have enough about them to replace the ones we've lost. I look at the celebs around of this era and I really dont see many at all who I consider to be in the same league.

Ahh blazing saddles, one of the funniest films ever, Gene wilder was fantastic in pretty much everything, a very funny boned man.

Up there with Life of Brian, cracking films, they don't make them like these anymore.

RIP Gene.

Well said! The only celeb I really like these days is Amy Adams (who played 'Giselle' out of Enchanted), but otherwise it is the case of "they don't make 'em like they used to".
