*** Battlefield 1 ***

I'd love to know what that weird looking brass lump kind of thing is meant to be on one of the sniper rifles, looks vaguely like some kind of mount held in the snipers hand. Weirdest looking thing ive seen on a sniper rifle and the way its held you would think there would be almost no stability in it.

On the Lee-Enfield (SMLE) rifle? Looks like a balancer or stand of some such.

Well I like the Beta so far, only had an hour on it last night.

it is different to BF 4 but then it should be, it's set a hundred years earlier with weapons that weren't nearly as good as they are today
I quite like the gameplay even tho I haven't had a great round on it yet. it may take me some time to get there but I've seen enough to know I will be buying.
yeah I don't like the spray mechanics of the smg's but that's what it is and i'll adapt. its what we all need to do, adapt to a very different game.

The anti tank rifle is by far the best pick up. When you first spawn make your way to E, pick up the rifle, go prone and attack all incoming jeeps. Blew up a jeep and light tank as soon as I picked up the rifle last night, got 5 kills in the first minute of the match. :)

Its a pretty good rifle, not a lot of ammo on it though and if you are caught unexpectedly by a guy on foot you are toast :)

Taken from Reddit...

Try it for yourself disable the male and female announcers the foot soldiers themselves will announce for you just like in bad company 2 vietnam, this is so much more realistic

Despite this, If I accept its more casual gameplay then it's actually a lot of fun.

And that is the single important thing for me, that its actually a lot of fun. I dont play games to excel (I'd rather excel at things that matter in life), I dont play games that I dont enjoy or am not liking (because that would be a waste of time), so I only play what I enjoy and find fun. Graphics dont put me off, sound doesnt put me off, storyline doesnt put me off..all as long as I am having fun because if I wasnt, I would just go and do something else :)

I think my taste in games has matured. I didn't find the alpha fun at all last night. Squad and RO2 is more my thing now.

Didn't get revived once the entire night. It's Battlefield's core mechanic and no one is doing it.

I assume you "requested revive", as I played Medic for around an hour last night, and think I saw one person actually requesting a revive - as others have stated already, it makes playing the Medic a lot harder.

I only play as a medic, havent seen anyone yet request a revive. Most people just immediately hit the respawn button.

They've gimped medic so much that not many people are running it and those that do won't know where your body is unless you request a revive, and given that deaths have zero effect in conquest it renders the class useless.

There's a ton of intentional game features that they need to fix or change or this will die just as quickly as HL did.

Well said! If you want accurate gun physics then play Arma or similar, BF has always been a blend of realism with arcade and this game is more of the same.
The SMG issue hasn't really affected me, I just adapted like you said.
I get that it has it's flaws don't get me wrong, and the map is hardly inspiring, however the pure atmosphere that I got playing this last night was more than any game I've played in a while and I loved that

roaches battlefield cousin?

- Gun-play is horrible. I know I am echoing many others, but omg. I was playing as the Medic with the rifle and got the drop on a squad of 2-3 players from behind. I unloaded the entire mag on them - by the time I actually did any damage they wheeled around and blasted me. The weapons I tried seem pathetically under-powered, with virtually no recoil. I'd expect the rifle to be 1-2 shot kill; unfortunately, in its current state it's pewpewpew as opposed to actual aiming/skill.

You need 4 well placed shots from the medic rifle to drop somebody. It's redic.

This is what I say to those who complain a game is too like the previous one and how its "just a re-skin"

Change too much and the die hard fans don't like it. Change it too little and people moan they've not changed enough. Its a tough balancing act.

Personally speaking, the gunplay in BF4 is one of the things they should have kept.
