Can a cisgendered actor play a trans character?

What about the many gay actors who have portrayed straight men. Where was the uproar then? Oh...wait...
 
Just read the tweets on that article. The fact that I share air with these people angers me...

I have a fair few friends who are trans, half my old Eve clan are trans, all great people. The people writing those tweets give transgender people a bad name.

I hate all this modern sexuality bull-****.

You're either straight, gay or you prefer to be a different gender, the majority of the world has or is accepting it, quit the crying, singing and parading about it already. It's tiresome.

I hate that people feel that they need to give themselves these pointless made up labels and then force them upon other people, and make them a much bigger deal than they need to be. You can do whatever you want without all this nonsense... The fact that these people get so so angry when you call them out on their ******** and call you sexist/discriminatory etc when you are anything but makes it worse.

Gender identity has nothing to do with sexuality.
 
Exactly ACME. As Ive just said, call yourself whatever but dont expect me to adhere to your special ********* nonsense.

Non binary is a personal favourite of mine. Neither male OR female! What?

Even trans friends I have think its all ridiculous
