BBC license fee proposals...

It seems so flawed. Surely I could keep the iPlayer app on my phone and cast it, and any inspection would prove fine. As others have said, just have an authentication process with the license number.

Edit: Also, hide yo kids, hide yo wife.

Non payment 1st fine is £100 and you don't even have to turn up to court as it's a civil matter, not criminal.

They save the Police visits for trouble makers and these are usually done on Sunday mornings.

The people who think £145 for the license fee is good value, I wonder if they will feel the same when its start going up next year......

It's basically a tax and we don't have a choice when it comes to paying, we have the illusion of choice.

It's not possible to avoid watching BBC and live television, who in modern society does not watch live television at some point? nobody, it should be scrapped.

I haven't watched live TV in over a year now. I think i could easily go without the BBC as well.

I would say a very large proportion of people growing up now do not watch live television. The whole concept of watching stuff that someone else has chosen in an order not defined by you is pretty alien to many.

The very fact that the BBC is extending the fee to iPlayer is evidence that an increasing number of people are not watching live TV.

Of course you have a choice, don't watch TV. I'd rather save the money myself.

I'd rather they just encrypt the bbc and if you want access, pay the licence fee.

Be nice if there was a better accommodation for licensing of individuals rather than premises - I've been in a few situations before where there is no license covering a premise but no way of personally being licensed for my own consumption and complications in regard to the premise - exactly circumstances a bit convoluted for a post - and no accommodation in the BBC system. They talk about modernisation but some parts of the system are hopelessly archaic.

Just to clarify does this new enforcement only apply to BBC iPlayer or does it encompass all on-demand content?

Seems just to be iplayer but there is a bit of a lack of clarity around that point - I've a relative who still hasn't got a straight answer on it from the BBC and won't just take mine or anyone elses word for it.

No one else is going to want it. C4, itv will always want as many people watching as possible.
BBC should just be allowed to use adverts for their on demand service if you haven't got a licence

At one time iPlayer was a godsend for me (I'm quite happy to pay for content I consume) but spend a fair bit of my life in situations not accommodated by the licensing - that said now what was Top Gear has gone to Amazon (I'm subscribed to prime) I have little reason to watch anything on the BBC.

It's pretty clear on the TV License website.

Do I need a TV Licence for all on demand programmes?
No. You don’t need a licence if you only ever watch on demand or catch up programmes on services other than BBC iPlayer* (and you also never watch live TV programmes on any channel, including on iPlayer).
You don’t need to be covered by a licence to watch any films or TV shows that you buy online.
*You don’t need a licence to watch S4C TV on demand or listen to radio on iPlayer.

There's a few things things I like to watch. But not enough for a blanket 145 a year for it.
I'll either circumvent or not bother depending on the way it is enforced.

I'd be fine with watching a few ads before and during question time.
I'm not paying 145 for it

Amount of people who don't understand currently you can watch catch up TV licence free is crazy
