What have you done to your car today?

^Exactly.

There's a roadside type fix you can do, but it's only meant to be temporary. Obviously it's quicker as you don't have to take the tyre off. Meant to be a limp to garage type fix.

I think last night I just ticked over 70k miles since I got my car. On 127900 ish now :) Was on 57850 or so when I bought it. It's done well to be fair, only expense outside of tyres, servicing and brakes has been a clutch and DMF and even so, they're consumables anyway.

what car?

Had a similar problem mrk. Had to get my rear right tyre repaired earlier and got the tracking done at the same time as I suspected it needed it.

Feels like a proper go-kart again.

Fitted a connect2 aux adapter to the e46 business headunit. Got sick of aux cables not working, and this works brilliantly. Unfortunately, in the process I broke the aerial antenna cable where it plugs into the headunit. Oh well, not like I listen to the radio lol.

I fit an EGR blanking plate to my Peugeot 407. The idea being it would get rid of a flat spot I've been experiencing around 1800rpm.

Worked perfectly and simple to install, took all of 5 minutes to fit.

Now to keep an eye on mpg to see if anything changes drastically.

Today I've changed the alternator and aux belt tensioner on my Mondeo mk3 Tdci.

However since I dont have the damn tool I cant get the belt back on!.

So its gonna sit on stands tonight while I wait on Amazon delivering the tool tomorrow.

Ive seen people make their own tools but I haven't got the means to do so :(

It's frustrating when you're at the final hurdle and held back by something so simple!

What sort of tool do you need? Cant it be done by stretching, straining, swearing, and ruining the circulation to your fingers? :p

I thought that was how its done! ;)

One of these things supposedly. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Laser-5208-Auxillary-Belt-Tensioner/dp/B005I503AO

It's impossible without having a way to compress the tensioner. People on forums have made tools from cut down bolts but I figured I'd just get the right tool and save me some effort.

Just annoyingly its coming tomorrow, and not today when I actually did 99% of the work.

This guys method seems decent, however I figured I'll just be patient.

Just sharing as it might help, I changed the aux belt on my old Mondeo, with the 2.5 you could use a 3/4 socket wrench to pull the tensioner down but it was physically impossible for me to pull it down enough with one hand and pop the belt back on with the other, I needed two hands to hold it down and luckily a neighbour put the belt on the top pulley for me :p

How much have you spent on this car since buying it? :p

EGR was only £50, That included having them reset the ECU and error codes.

Prob far too much money, but i plan on keeping it so I'm happy enough.

Clutch is dieing and DMF will need changing. Plus the front shocks are needing to be replaced.

Expensive car :P
