Franchise where the third film is the best one.

He's gotta be trolling, he also said Iron Man 3 :D

LOL seriously no troll.

In reference to Spiderman I thought all of the movies were awful (Garfield movies were a lot better IMO), the plus point of the third movie was introduction of Venom, who I thought they did pretty well.

In reference to Ironman.....I enjoy all of the movies (apart from the Grand Prix race scene, the second movie is tiresome though), but the third movie edges it for me.

Spider-Man 3 was staggeringly terrible, whereas 2 is one of the best superhero films ever.

Iron Man has been on a standard downhill trajectory.

Terminator 3.

:D I had half a mind to post that.

Evil Dead - Army of Darkness

It's the one I find the most entertaining. It's not the scary one, but the peak of Sam Raimi's Splatstick.

Yes! 1000 times yes. A natural progression of scary to slapstick. :)

Some "sequels" to lower budget originals are basically just remakes with a few tweaks.

these are all jokes right?

LOL seriously, no troll with these.

I am not saying that I actually like any of the films (Indiana Jones, Iron Man and Die Hard the exceptions), but in the trilogys I have mentioned I believe the third is the best.

STAR WARS PREQUELS

The phantom menace and the clone wars are probably two of the worst films ever made. It was relatively easy for Sith to come out on tops here.....and IMO it is the better one in these prequels by default.

SPIDERMAN (MAGUIRE)

a lot of hate for this, but again I thought this was a trashy trilogy. I pretty much hated all of these films. Spiderman 3 was just marginally less ****

IRON MAN

Iron man 3.....I thought all of them were pretty good, this was pinched it for me though over the first one.

INDIANA JONES

Last crusade by a nose.....only because of Connery though.

I can't say that I was a big fan of the Maguire Spiderman films, but the third was especially crap. Venom may have looked the part, but he was terribly handled and developed.
Him merely being in the film didn't make it better than the other two.

As for Die Hard 3 and Iron Man 3 being the best... Rifte, you're a wrong 'un :p

in general the 2nd film is usually always the best of the series (with a couple of exceptions)...heres some evidence :D

Superman 2
Empires Strikes Back
Godfather 2
Aliens
The Dark Knight (only just edges out the first)
Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan
Spiderman 2
Terminator 2
Mad Max 2
Captain America Winter Soldier
LOTR: The Two Towers
Rocky 2
Beverly Hills Cop 2
Evil Dead 2

All better than the 1st and indeed best of entire series i daresay. Theres something about being the 2nd film that adds a certain je ne sais quo.

A few exceptions stuff like Raiders of the Lost Ark (1st one stands alone), Ghostbusters, The Matrix, Highlander, Die Hard but you get my drift.

dems the unwritten laws of film making.

Jaws? Although 'Dawn of the Dead', 1979, is best out of the trilogy so your theory may have some merit :D

I agree entirely except Aliens, you couldn't give me enough money to ever say Aliens was better than Alien.

Actually I lie, you also mentioned T2 which is Terminator for the kids ;)

They're both amazing films, both pretty much the finest examples of their genres, horror and action.

Aliens, I think is just an absolute masterclass in film making. Everything starting with the script, characters and actors (how many films do you really care about the red shirts) to the sets and sounds. Pulse rifle and the movement detectors are iconic! You also really feel you're in there with the marines in that abandoned base knowing something else is in there...

One of those movies where I think you can take ANY line and it'd be a memorable quote.

Aliens is waay better theres only so many times you can take semi seriously a rubber suited man being scary.

Besides how many times can you watch the complete idiocy of Lambert (and Dallas) again and again? Shouting at them does bugger all.

Whereas in aliens i can watch this **** all day and night yo.

I'm always in a quandry over Alien & Aliens and when it comes to choosing between them I'd have to flip a coin. Both are absolute masterpieces and both are very different movies; Alien being a haunted house in space and Aliens being an action movie in space. With big, nasty monsters.

So far, Star Wars III is the only one suggested that I reckon is bang on. And that's just because the first two (taking Prequels as a seperate entity) are somewhat terrible.

Indiana Jones: Last Crusade is also a decent shout, and I'm on the fence with it.

True. Both are masterpieces. But a bigger part of the charm of the first is not knowing how certain things turn out....ie the gripping tension and dread. That is mitigated somewhat when you know what is going to happen. I think it relies more on this factor than Aliens does.
