372.70 + Gsync

Wunkley, you never fail with these things! :D

Do you leave Gsync to cap the frame rate, or do you cap a couple of FPS below the 100?

:D I am quite particular about getting things to work properly, or as best as they can. I'm a picky ****er.

These days I tend to leave gsync to do its thing. I see very little difference personally in terms of input lag by capping a few frames under like some people do. I think it depends on the game though.
For some games I do cap 1 frame under the refresh rate using RTSS to help with overall smoothness which a handful of games benefit from sometimes.

Also, these days I tend to max out my x34 at 85hz. Not many recent games I currently play will maintain 100fps at max settings, and keeping at 85 helps to mitigate the scan line issue these overclocked panels that the x34 and Asus pg348q have (if you can keep your fps as close to your refresh rate as possible it basically cures the scan lines problem - I've got a whole post somewhere on here about that).
My SLI 980Tis can pretty much maintain 85fps in everything. And I feel there's not a massive difference between 85fps/hz and 100fps/hz in terms of overall motion clarity etc on this monitor.

Having similar trouble with Doom now. I tried it with G-Sync indicator switched on and it appears to be running. However I am noticing very slight tearing. Really annoying, given the cost of both the monitor and the Nvidia GPU driving it.

I have got it limited to 144fps via RivaTuner and I have turned off Vsync in Nvidia control panel. Running game in OpenGL as I had read that Vulcan was problematic with G-Sync.

The tearing is very slight, but it is there and not my imagination. My bro was in a wee while ago and when he sat down watching me, the first thing he said was "is it tearing?", so it is noticeable.

Is G-Sync broken?

For me, rolling back to 365.10 has solved my issues, so it appears nvidia have simply broken their own software.

At least I had the experience to roll back. Imagine someone buying a Titan P and a X34a then having to put up with this **** and thinking it's meant to be like this.

Try limiting the framerate to slightly lower than 144fps - I usually use 120-143 depending on game, more often than not 135 as for some reason entirely subjectively it seems to be the point where I least notice any latency.

Thanks will give it a try in a bit. Trying to get BF1 Beta to work, but keep getting server timed out issue. PC gaming can really frustrate at times! :/

Seriously, you just fixed the stutter issue I've had in Skyrim for months!

Genius.

Skyrim has a tendency to go nuts if you are rendering anything close to 100fps - when I was capping at 120fps with 120Hz monitor with it my character arms/weapons would blink in and out of existence and the game stuttered like mad especially when jumping if I was anywhere near 100+fps.

I actually ended up playing capped at 56fps (G-Sync on, V-Sync off) as that kept the physics simulation from ever "exploding" and/or physics bugging out missions and also meant for some reason I could run ugrids at like 9 or 11 or whatever it was I ended up on without too many issues and no crashing (for some reason capping at 60 which causes it to sometimes drift a little over 60 can make it very flakey with physics and ugrids turned up).

Sadly after changing graphic card it reset some of my ini file and I found I hadn't got the most recent changes backed up and couldn't remember them either so the game never player quite right after that lol.

I've got it running at 85fps because after so long gaming above 60fps I've developed a right sensitivity for the 60 zone and below, believe it or not.

If I get issues I'll revert to your suggestion, but it does seem smooth as silk at 85. I'm currently downloading some mods and an ENB so will see how it goes.

I might have a play with Ugrids now that I've got 980ti SLI to power it all, as I remember it being a right resource hog previously.

Cheers Rroff.

Yeah - ugrids above default isn't guaranteed to be 100% stable so might not want to use it if you are doing something for the first time/seriously play through but once I had properly ini tweaks/memory allocation for it and kept the framerate capped I never had a problem. It is quite performance intensive but really makes a difference when the middle background is more alive and less looking like cardboard cut out assets.

Normally I hate anything under 85fps and prefer around 100 upwards but along with G-Sync I had Skyrim in a good place where a constant 56fps was reasonably playable.

Using this driver with my sli setup on rog swift. I've set mine to On (smooth) in NCP which is recommended for sli and works champion for me.

Best

Presume this is because a lot of people were complaining it keeps defaulting to on when you turn if off every boot... G-Sync will work with VSync off though so it don't think its a problem?

Might be getting confused in all the game config chat about but V-Sync is not G-Sync, its under its own settings and mine pops up with my G-Sync display is on telling me one is connected. G-Sync works both with and without V-Sync enabled as far as i'm aware.

Yes but the problem is - GSync is appears to now be auite erratic in its behaviour and the only visual indicator is constantly displayed on screen and you can't toggle it on/ off. Simply adding a toggle button for this would help solve so many problems at diagnosing whether things are working as they should be.

I have played 2 recent high profile games and have had tearing occur in both of them. Battlefront (although strangely only really in vehicles) and also Doom.

Mine seems to tell me every time I turn the screen on, dunno why though...

If my screen has been sleeping and I wake it, it comes up in notification area saying "G-Sync screen has been activated" or words to that effect.

What I mean, is in the control panel in "Set Up G-Sync" panel, there is a drop down which says display... If you click that and there is an option to select G-SYNC Indicator. This shows a visual indicator on screen up top right area, but it is quite large and there is no way to toggle it on/ off.

Previously the LED on the Swift (and I believe other G-Sync displays) would change to indicate the mode, but as G-Sync is always on now the LED is always red so no longer works as an indicator to show that G-Sync is working in-game!

I think most gamers would feel as soon as gsync aint on as vsync will kick in and you'll feel like youve just drank 10 pints with the lag, assuming your using vsync on in nvcp. Granted the effect wont be half as obvious if your capping your FPS but then youll notice a judder instead.

Agreed. Annoys me how nvidia can basically **** up essential functions that have been working fine (like Gsync) with a simple driver update. Very very poor geek work by the Nvidia peeps at the moment.

They do seem to be on a bit of a roll at the moment the previous driver broke AO in FO4 the Pip-Boy had dark and unreadable screens the latest seems to have put it right again, can't comment on Gsync though.
