He has a point. The local recovery place know me by name as they've had to fish my A6 out of the armco every day on the way to work :rolleyes:

PSS is an epic tyre. Slightly worse than the CS5 in the wet but they don't half grip!
Sure, it's no Nankang, but then you get what you pay for.

PSS may be a great tyre as mjt says. Its just my opinion and in my experience in the wet they don't grip as well as some other brands. As they are the only contact you have with the road I prefer brands that I have experience of giving me good grip.

I like the PSS as a tyre as for the amount of abuse I've thrown at mine they have lasted a very long time. I don't think they are particularly outstanding in terms of grip though but maybe my expectations were too much prior to buying them.

I don't expect my CS6's to last even half the amount of mileage that the PSS has done.

Buying tyres solely by brand is stupid, they all do a huge range. A Pirelli P7 is never going to grip as well as a Michelin PSS, the same as a Michelin Primacy won't grip anything like a Pirelli PZero.

You can't generalise a whole brand as having harder compounds or worse grip than an entire competing brand, that's absolute nonsense.

P Zeros seem to be very variable. I had a set on my old Jag and they were fantastic, we now have them on the F430 and they're awful: they squeal constantly even under moderate cornering and if the road is even mildly damp I can set the traction control off in a straight line using 20% throttle.

P-Zeros aren't that bad are they?

Now Conti Sports 3, easily the worst tyre out of them, the zeros and AS2s I've had on my Audi.

Found out that the S3 will cost me around £50 less per year to insure, but had to insure the A4 for another month~ due to current policy expiration in two weeks time

I noticed on the S3 in the showroom at my local dealer, that they were running Hankooks on the standard 18" alloys.

Not a fan of these at all. I hope they are different on the 19" optional wheels. I think I'd take P-Zeros over these.

I've had PSSs on my previous Alpina and currently run them on my S5. Great grip all round IMO. I'd have them again.

The facelift S3 saloon I've seen (19s) was fitted with Bridgestones, though I forget the exact tyre model.

I've heard people say they are decent tyres but a bit noisy. Had Bridgestone potenzas on the A1.

I bought a brand new A5 Black Edition Plus 3l TDI Quattro 3 months ago with P Zero's fitted and they are amazing tyres!

Although it's my first ever Audi coming from a Honda Type R previously it feels confident and grippy, especially in Dynamic mode

On it's way for a new clutch, H&R arbs being fitted and a service. Hopefully back by Friday...

Then just need to buy new wheels as one front has more weights on it than a powerlifter, just trying to keep it straight!

I've gotta replace all four tyres relatively soon. In a previous thread for my Focus OCUK recommended Premium Contact 5's, so bang for buck are they still near top of the pile? 225/40/R18 Ys on my A3, so it'd be the Sport Contact 5 at £95/corner.

Or is there a better option? I dont want to skimp on tyres but I also dont want to spend all my money on them.
