**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

You're better off buying the non Samsung branded ones from Amazon. Get one that's rated 10W and you will be wirelessly fast charging at exactly the same rate as the Samsung one for under £20, and you can use any QC2.0 wall charger to power it.

I have both official Samsung ones, as well as third party ones. I'd personally just get the more compatible ones for less money and receive the same charging performance.

BTU September update on ota.

Ah thanks, just got it.

Best/cheapest place to buy one of these SIM free anyone?

My head is quite literally battered trying to search through all the Google tripe.

All the best with that :(

I mentioned in the Note 7 thread that I sent my S6 Edge+ to Samsung 11 days ago and was told at the weekend that the part they needed won't be available for at least another 2 weeks, I was very tempted (and still am) to just go and buy an S7E to tide me over then sell either it or Edge plus when it eventually returns.

The repair centre at least sent me an email this morning saying they were doing all they could for the time being but they have just been snowed under with all the Note 7 issues.

Myshra answered the exact same question for me regarding back up - Helium for android is a great app - you'll probably see the thread for it.

Samsung SmartSwitch for Android and pc, then initiate the full backup.

Alternatively you can just run it on the phone and create a backup on the sd card of its big enough.

I just got an email from one of the technicians explaining the issue. Prior to this I was on Samsung live chat the day before and they chased it up so maybe the centre were 'urged' to contact me.

The upshot of that email was they did offer to send my phone back to me until the part arrived as it is otherwise fully functioning. I've not decided yet as I'm wary if I take them up on the offer things could trundle along and nothing will ever be repaired, if they keep it then at least it'll be sitting in front of them.

Anywhere really which isnt a grey import. All back upto £600 now. CPW, Clove.co.uk.

Why wouldn't you just buy an import? I'd much rather pay £486.

So I guess there is a snag with these grey imports on Ebay? Will Samsung not honour any warranty on the phone if it develops a fault? Could there be other issues?

I ask cos I was asked about the dual sim GS7Edge on Ebay some time ago by a friend interested in buying one. I presumed there was bound to be a catch but didn't know for sure? He got one on contract in the end.

Samsung wont honor the warranty, especially when you get 2 years with them.

Very hard to justify spending £600 on S7E given the Note 7 is £100 more (when one can be got!)

Same can be said for any phone, like the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 P. You pay the extra for the bigger screen when the hardware is more or less the same.
