What have you done to your car today?

How much of that is parts vs labour?

Granted I don't pay labour as I do it all myself, but a lightened flywheel and uprated Exedy clutch (I hate the whole stage 1/stage 2 etc thing) for my old Impreza WRX cost me just shy of £400.

I wouldn't have expected to pay more than £200 labour to have it fitted... and that involves dropping the propshaft and most of the exhaust from the turbo back.

Dropped the FSTi off for to replace the old vf41 for a vf43

I think personally I'd have opted for a vf44?

I'm guessing that's sarcasm as the VF44 is a small twinscroll turbo. VF43 is a goodun'

:D

Installed and mapped. On stock exhaust so limited in max output but a decent increase from stock.

Stock/Mapped
BHP: 280/304.3
lb/ft: 270/340

Next up is new exhaust, which should get me to 340-345bhp and 400lb/ft

£220 labour for the lot. Supposedly it's 8+ hours

On the topic of 3 MPS, I did this to my front N/S...

All four alloys were found to be buckled with the front two being beyond repair. Decided against having them repaired and purchased a new set, and had them re-furbished.

Attempting to change brake discs. Retaining screws are stuck. Tried drilling, screw extractor etc no luck. Would grinding the head off and getting the disc off then using pliers on the rest work?

Upgraded the brakes.

Gone are the 312mm Golf GTI brakes (unsure if them being off an edition 30 has any relevance), and on go a set off an S3. So 345mm. Just with OEM discs and pads just now, HEL brake lines, and some racing brake fluid.

They sure look better behind them wheels. And she stops pretty fleetly too. More than adequate for my almost stock power.

What on earth happened to buckle all four? Did you drive up a raised curb at 60MPH? :p

Nothing too major, just several pot-holes along my un-lit lane which used to catch me out every now and again.

Admittedly, the rears were only minor and nothing a few extra balancing weights couldn't rectify... just wanted to piece of mind knowing they were all sound really :)

Remap incoming?

Meant to be going to pick up new car tonight.. Get a voicemail to say 'there may be an issue'. Give them a call after work.. "sorry sir but we've gone to tax the vehicle and can't find the v5. Oh and while it was getting transferred between dealer branches they've chipped an alloy"

Meant to be driving down to Devon first thing Friday morning.. Looks like I'll be forking out for insurance on the gfs car and doing some serious haggling on price next week

Spent all day cleaning my old brakes ready to sell on eBay. Now as anyone whose changed a set of brakes will know, they're absolutely filthy and after a few hours in the lovely sunshine sweating away and wiping bugs from my face I must have looked a right sight to the poor Fed-ex man when I, a stocky (fat) 20 stone 6ft ex-military rugby player with his face all blacked up like a navy SEAL, surprised him at the door just before he could knock. It would probably explain the parcel he dropped and the little squeak he let out :D

The cleaning rags filled a 35L bin to make them look that good!

Would they fit my mazda 3!? They look ace

6 Pots on a mazda 3 diesel. Those calipers probably wouldn't fit under the wheel and the discs are probably as big as the wheels :)... plus those brakes are probably worth as much as the car.

I am guessing they are RS6 discs and callipers?
