PlayStation 4 Pro in-bound

Shame there's no SSD too really.

It'd be double the price for not much benefit.

Just stick with full 1920 x 1080p 60fps and get that right first

Agreed, if I had more confidence that developers were going to ensure a top-quality, fluid 1080p experience in their games or Sony mandated such a thing, I'd perhaps be more interested. As it is, you've no real idea what you're going to get from one game to the next.

In any case, console gaming is a lot messier and more complicated now. I wonder what this means for the next gen.

I hadn't a clue why everyone was mentioning input lag on 4K TVs but it seems it's only important for competitive multiplayer which I don't care about.

I have a Samsung 55" JU6400 tv and when in game mode the input lag is very low.

Did a bit of research on 4k tv input lag and motion blur and this model was ranked as one of the highest in both categories.

Playing Rory Mcilroy not in game mode really shows the difference in the lag.

Got mine for £680 8 months ago, PC games through SLI 980's and my ps4 look and play great on it.

A pain that my amp doesn't do 4K pass through :(

I have that TV too. It is a very good gaming TV. Will look great with PS Pro until 4K OLED becomes affordable.

Where can I preorder guys?

Not having a UHD in the PS4 Pro is a huge mistake IMO, i was hoping that the PS4 Pro was to 4k UHD Blu-ray what the PS3 was to Blu-ray.

I thought Sony gets a cut of every blu-ray sold because the technology is licenced? Isn't that same for 4k UHD Blu-ray? If so then i would have thought it would have been in their best interest in sticking in a drive into the PS4 Pro.

I'll still sell my PS4 for the PS4 Pro because it's an upgrade, so why not? But i'll be rebuying a Xbox one S as soon as they release a black version now.

Yeah no UHD player means no buy. As people have said, if the quality was guaranteed for every game then it might be worth it for the games alone, but the big appeal would have been having a UHD drive.

Really strange decision but not totally unexpected as they already announced they weren't interested in launching a UHD player to the AC market

Only problem I have with the PS4 design, all versions, plus the PS3 was bad, is the difficulty to actually find the front USB sockets. It's a pain, and terrible design. These new machines are just plain ugly to me. The xbox one is just ridiculous to think someone actually got paid for designing a 1980s VCR.

If a 4K TV is not a requirement for the Pro, would that mean the standard / slim is going to be phased out by the Pro as time goes on and prices drop?

So if you have a 4K TV are you "forced" to have games upscaled to 4K or can you choose better framerates at 1080?
Rise of the Tomb Raider apparently has three options. One is 1080p/30fps with the graphics options cranked up, the second is 1080p/target 60fps with lesser graphics (but apparently it's more 40-60 right now) and the last is "4K"/30fps with graphical settings taking another hit.
